900 kHz from EU (I suppose !)

Post by Patrick73 » 02 Dec 2018 19:57

Hi there !

Did someone (in Europe) make an I/Q recording last night (02 DEC), including 900 kHz ?
From 0059z to 0105z, I can hear a weak station playing 80's pop tracks (T. Turner, "What's love got to do with it" and P. Collins, "In the air tonight"). No ID at TOH, maybe between both songs, but too weak to get it, RAI being much louder.

Don't know if Radio Popular carries this kind of program at night ...
Any suggestion is welcome ;-)

Patrick,

It was audible here in South Wales, but much weaker than your signal. RAI was dominant and there was a middle eastern station (Saudi or Iran?), but Tina Turner was in the mix.

Presumably the same station briefly go stronger than RAI at 0500 with Dire Straits, no id or announcement and straight into Bonnie Tyler (I don't know how much more of this music I can take !)

At 0600 is this French talk ?

At 0700 a Herri Irratia ID and then Radio Popular.

In reality - I have no idea !

Hi Simon,

My recording starts at 0058 and ends 0107, but this station becomes almost unaudible at the end of P. Collins song. I can barely hear the following tittle ("Dancing in the dark" by Bruce Springsteen I guess).

This is indeed french on your recording, but it sounds like a 'Luxembourg effect' to me ... RTL, RMC, Europe 1 ???

Good spot on the French channel . I think that I have had one of the Long Wave stations around here before.

It was there again last night. It's only really worth me checking during the silence in the RAI pips. Last night it was Village People one hour, Queen another.

Just spotted at 0500 last night, Bee gees followed by a Radio Popular ID and then into regular Radio Popular programmes. My guess is they have oldies pop music through the night.

I was thinking to myself : What could it be, if not R. Popular ?"
Not IRN / ARS for sure and probably not a pirate on this channel.
Well, it looks like there's no more mystery on this one !

The night before, I came accross what is probably an italian pirate station, playing non-stop love songs (including italian songs) on 1566. No ID, no talk (heard from approx 2130 onwards).
This was not Radio Kolbe.
