972 - signature tune ?

Post by simbeav » 13 Jan 2017 23:15

Can anybody help with identifying the station playing the music starting at 11 seconds on this one from 872khz at 19:00 ?

https://app.box.com/s/2xxyojva4e0y9cfazxivyr4cqvsrg4i0

I get a mess with RNE and Sunrise dominant, but at 11 secs there is a bar or two of electronic music. I've heard snatches of it at 18:00 and 19:00 on several days, but the other two stations are always too dominant to pick up any announcement.

thanks

Simon

Is this the correct recording? Your clip says the frequency is 971.9968, not 872.

I don't hear much of any music, but there are three notes which start at 10 seconds, right before the time signals.

If that's it, sorry. I don't recognise it.

Yes. sorry, it is the correct recording. The frequency is 972.
There is a tune of about 9 notes continuing through the pips before the RNE tune starts up.
It's the fact that I am hearing the same tune over several days at 18:00 and 19:00 that makes me think it is some type of signature tune to a station or programme and I can't work out what it is.
Thanks for listening though.

Interesting. I will point the flag at Asia this afternoon and see if I can hear that.

Maybe somebody at RealDX will know.

Wonder if you're hearing splash from 981 next door, which would be on an inverted musical scale at 972.

Here's 981 at 1800 today with pips, musical ID and spoken ID from both Rádio Cesky Impuls and Algeria:

MW has been wiped out with high noise levels today, but it's just stopped. Recording over 1900. Hopefully something then.

I'll check 981 too. Thanks for that Brookman.

Nothing like that here at 1900. Also nothing from 981 which could have been splattering. Nor from 963.

I'm beginning to think it is some sort of artifact produced by Jaguar.

The timing of the tune and certain characteristics of it are similar to the dirge played on 5 Live at TOH and checking my recordings it is on some from earlier in the day as well when little from the continent is getting through.

Could it be some kind of Luxembourg effect?
