1390, religous station?

Post by manueljbaeza » 19 Dec 2016 09:23

I,
Last night can capture in my QTH of Baeza (Spain) this transoceanic signal that I could not identify. One friend from Córdoda, by his experience, thinks it may be WEGP Radio Presque Isle from Maine.

Does anyone else know what station it is?

Thanks!

WEGP is quite a consistent station on 1390. To be honest, it's a nuisance sometimes as it dominates the frequency when North America is open. If you are receiving it with these awful conditions then I am sure you will be hearing a lot more from it.

WEGP carries the EWTN network and may identify as "EWTN The Presence."

Their top of the hour sequence can be slightly confusing as it mentions several stations on the Maine network. Here's their top of the hour ID:

Impossible to know who that is without an ID of course, but could well be them. I can't imagine anything else from North America getting through with these awful conditions.

Thanks John!!!

I would have liked to have been able to capture some ID but it was impossible since the signal faded.

Hi Manuel,

Here's what you should be listening out for; signal from WEGP 1390 kHz with ID. Good luck!
