Is she saying "Thailand Radio"?

Post by daveB » 14 Sep 2018 14:10

Station id on 1350 KHz 13 Sep 2018 at 200 UTC.

I can't make up my mind about this one. Listening just before 200UTC this station appears to come on air or fad from nothing. The YL announcer repeats the station id three times - the last one sounds like "Thailand radio" - the first two could be "I am radio or "Taiwan Radio". The music that follows isn't consistent and when it finishes the same station id is repeated - twice this time and again sounds something like "Taiwan radio - and then fades out again. (This latter id is not included).

What you have on the clip - is the signal from fade up to id and music - on LSB mode. Then a brief silence and the station id a 2nd time - in AM mode.

Any help appreciated.

Other stations heard: CRI 1521 kHz at 1958 -2000 mixing with a European station and Chines underneath another station on 1377 kHz. This was a rare evening when the band wide interference was not present - but it returned abruptly around midnight (UTC) and killed and chance of TA reception.

Thanks

David

Yes, it's definitely Iam Radio with that kind of funky/easy listening music coming from the end of Seventies.

Thanks for help - I was pretty sure the music ruled out Asian origin. I missed seeing the last entry in MWList for Europe was "I AM Radio" from Italy. I suppose 0.5 kw from Italy isn't too bad for reception - especially as that was the direction of the loop's null at the time.
