Re: A general improvement

When I got home from work I quickly checked some of my usual Belgian/Dutch frequencies on the car radio and there were some weak signals there, as opposed to the recent static!

Re: That Incredible day - 10-10-10! What are your memories?

My first DX was in late August 2003 a few weeks before my 12th birthday. My dad had just bought a new hi-fi system and I was fiddling with it when I came across a Dutch-speaking station on 100.1 - the Flemish Radio 2. I'm not sure whether I correctly assumed that the heat was affecting the atmospher...

I sometimes get those Hearts via tropo but I get Radio 538 and Q Music more often (tropo again).

Re: Catherine's loggings from Norwich

Thanks Tim.

This sort of thing has happened before with Norfolk on 104.4 (not my local frequency) being replaced by a Dutch station.

Alex Cator wrote:Catherine, have you noticed anything of BBC Suffolk while attempting Classic 21 yesterday. Amazing, without specialist equipment!
At first the two stations were fighting, but after several minutes I couldn't hear Suffolk at all!

Re: Welcome to the new DXer based in Breckland!

I noticed in another thread Catherine, that you do not use any specially adapted radios for your DXing. As you do not live very far from where I work, I wondered if you would like to borrow a Degen DE1103 which I have modified with narrow filters? If you have not heard of the DE1103 (or the Eton E5...

Re: Welcome to the new DXer based in Breckland!

Hello Alex, I live in the Broadland area. We do indeed have a quiet FM band! I'm a youngster but not as young as yourself (I'm 23)! Been into DXing since I was 16 but I actually heard my first European FM station when I was 11. I feel like a geek but it's 'right up my street', lol. I'm happy with th...

Re: Skegness Log: 2014-12-16

I remember listening to English-language news bulletins on FM4 when I was on holiday in Austria. I came across a podcast of theirs called Science Busters on my internet radio, but it was in German and I don't know enough of the language to follow it.

Catherine's loggings from Norwich

Some good Dutch reception last Friday and Saturday, in addition to my 'regulars' of Egem, Lille and multiple copies of the BBC nationals/Classic FM. I'll make this thread a cumulative log, leaving out regulars and stations I've already listed. Saturday: 98.00 HOL Radio Decibel Amsterdam/Alticom Tore...

Signals have been increasing during the day and are now clear stereo on my hi-fi, some with RDS.

Re: Members' Loggings

I agree with the idea of having a general loggings subforum. Until now I've used other people's threads in the 'DX alerts' section to post what I was hearing. I'm not really interested in posting a log every day I hear something if it's a duplicate of what I've heard before. :)
