Re: Help category

Yes. A good point. If I was a new member wanting to ask questions I wouldn't know where to post. Where he posted looks like the only option. Hmm. I don't know where we should fit in such a forum without over-complicating things as each group could do with such a forum. Ideas anybody?

Re: medium wave help

Well, for the really long-distance paths on medium wave you need darkness at the reflection point. It's all to do with the propagation layers in the atmosphere which allow increased distances at night. That subject can get a bit technical and I don't understand a lot of it myself. There's no need to...

We do indeed. But what an excellent start we've had on our first day!

Perhaps members could help by posting the odd link to us in messages. Spread the word!

Re: I wonder who this could be on 1017

I will look into this. Thanks MD. I have also been looking around the internet for Asiatic DX recordings and found a couple of good sites this morning. I have also been pleasantly surprised by how many recordings of Asiatic DX there are on Youtube. It was thanks to one of those that I discovered who...

I wonder who this could be on 1017

It's another one for me to try to work out. Yesterday evening's Asiatic conditions were good once again. 1413 JOIF's three pip time signal could be heard very easily. In fact I could almost convince myself there was some speech in there. 1350 JOER's pips were also there. But another set of pips intr...

Looking for web streams of Japanese MW stations

All I can find so far is http://www.surfmusic.de/country/japan.html and a few others via http://www.wifiradio-frontier.com Specifically, I am looking for the web streams of more localised medium wave stations, such as JOIF, JOLB, JOQR, etc. and NHK2. It would also be nice to find local station web s...

Re: RTE 252 going qrt?

I will miss this when it closes. I often used to listen to 252 while driving when I lived in the North Midlands. Even here on the east coast it provides a very listenable signal.

Re: Turning Words into Links

I tried to get that to work myself last night Julian but I couldn't remember how to do it. It's a fairly standard with these kinds of boards. Happy to help of course, but a good resource for these kinds of questions can be found in the https://www.phpbb.com/community . Nope. That won't work anymore....

Hi Mike.

You'll need to use the "Full Editor" when composing the post. Click on "URL" above the text area, you'll see "" appear. Drop the URL in there. So http://skywavesdx.org

It's the same for adding images. Just click on "Img" and follow the same procedure.

Re: medium wave help

You have a good location for transatlantic DX Phill. You could start by looking for one or two of the more regularly heard stations. Look after local midnight. You might want to make some recordings as the path between us in the UK and North america opens up around local midnight. Not the easiest ti...

Re: test

This is possible, but requires a modification, as I believe it does on many other forums. Other members have also asked about this. The reason it hasn't been included so far is partly because the coding is a bit too complicated for me. Some modifications have worked instantly and did the job perfect...

Re: Interference Spikes

That's certainly a possibility Günter. Once I have finished recording medium wave this evening I will see if I have any USB cables with chokes on them. I swapped the cables a couple of days ago and re-sited the Perseus as far away as I could from other electrical equipment, but to no avail. I still ...

Hello Phill. Welcome to the group.

What are your interests in medium wave? Are you new to this?

Would help to know roughly where you are too so we can point you in the right direction.

Re: Interference Spikes

Thanks John. Hmm. I think it is a bit 'overkill' myself too now I've seen the price. It's odd how this was never a problem in the past. Something has changed, but I don't think contacting the manufacturer will help. I ought to post to the Perseus SDR Yahoo Group and see if anybody else has h...
