Re: Personal Totals

Ah. Some of us are constant record keepers. Some not. I guess it's the anorak in me. It all came about when I lost data on failed hard drives and couldn't remember everything I'd previously logged. My memory is shocking these days. Middle-aged absentmindedness. If I didn't keep records now ....

Personal Totals

I just updated my the all time personal log on my website and thought I would add up how many stations I have logged from each continent. Come on, this is not going to be the biggest total by far. What about you? What's your best catch from each continent? North America: 238 Central America & The Ca...

Thank you Matthias. You are not the only person who has advised that this is Egypt. Still, a nice new catch.

Of course Julius. I was not thinking.  It just sounded Dutch to my ears.

Re: What have you found on 1008, now Flevoland has gone?

Thanks P-FM. Spain is here right now (Almost 1am local time) on a high offset of 0123. But here's what I recorded at 16:00: https://app.box.com/s/pz6v6owvfjzq42pesopjtu4pik96van8 Chariots Of Fire song extract, part of a national anthem, but an unidentified language. I'll bet this is either Egypt or ...

Thanks Klaus.

I haven't heard Pakistan or Greece on 1008. I will look for Pakistan this afternoon. They have a very distinctive synthetic brass-stab news jingle and three rather primitive sounding time pips on the hour. https://www.youtube.com/edit?o=U&video_id=nHQCNTZignI

What have you found on 1008, now Flevoland has gone?

Since Holland has left 1008, I hear something Arabic in the late afternoons/evenings. Probably Egypt or Iran.

Yesterday, I heard CNR1 from China. probably from the Kunming transmitter.

No Greece so far.

What are YOU hearing?

Re: 1450 CHOU ?

Just got around to checking yesterday's 1450 and I have only two carriers which reached audio level. Talk on .9962, which might be Spanish and .9987. The splatter from 1449 will not let me in. I only had these two signals briefly around 02:10. I didn't hear any Middle Eastern music and nothing else ...

Re: Quadrantids 2019

I am half way through my first session. Logs here: http://www.fmlist.org/fm_logmap.php?dat ... &omid=2404 I am wondering if I can be bothered with more of this. It's the same stations, over and over again. Or is it me. Perhaps I am just turning into an impatient old git.

Re: Quadrantids 2019

It looks like MS activity declined as the morning went on. I recorded between 03:00 and 09:00. My 03:00-04:00 and 04:00-05:00 files revealed a good level of activity, but my 05:00-06:00 files are considerably quieter.

Two Relevant Radios listed on 930:

KHJ Los Angeles CA (5 kW)
WKBM Sandwich IL (4.2 kW night power)

In light of your WVOL reception, I wonder if we have an Illinois morning on our hands. Chicago was good overnight here on the usual channels.

The first of five hour long files has been scanned. Lots of good pings and several ten or so second bursts. Should be a decent log.

Re: 1010 - 2 stations mixing

Almost without a doubt, two North Americans on 1010 will be WINS New York NY and CFRB Toronto ON. WINS often IDs as "Ten Ten Wins", "wins" spoken as a word. CFRB IDs as Newstalk Ten Ten and may or may not use its call letters. Both have a news format and both are heard equally well. The real gem on ...

Re: Quadrantids 2019

Sounds good. Looks like I successfully recorded both MW and FM overnight, but I did manage to free up some space and record to separate drives, just in case. Now, finding the time to listen. Hmm. Lots to do today, so I will set SDR Radio's Data File Analyser to go through the recordings while I am g...

Re: Quadrantids 2019

I don't really have any spare discs. Only a 1TB for both purposes free. My other discs are as good as full. I have 8GB memory. Jaguar runs happily at less than 1% CPU usage when recording. 13/14% when writing AUTOSCAN files. I'm sure I've done this before. Can't remember what happened. I will be abl...

Re: Quadrantids 2019

I have managed to free up some space on my hard drive so I can record some overnight Quadrantids, but I am hoping there won't be a problem. Medium wave is currently showing better conditions and so I will be recording from my Perseus receiver at the same time - to the same hard drive. I hope this wo...
