Re: Could this be the next "Must Have" FM DX receiver?

I remember in the old days American car radios were tops for A. M. (MW) DXing

Re: blackout

Thanks guys. Got a new used radio today and had to check it twice!

Yesterday evening was able to copy an Indian MW station on the Lowe. Conditions are changing quickly from day to day and hour to hour.

Re: RNLI London 1215 KHz

Hi and thanks for the info. Yes, the YL announcer said absolute radio a few times. 200KW is quite a lot of power, no wonder they're in here like gangbusters... X5, good grief. Who are they trying to reach!

RNLI London 1215 KHz

RNLI very strong tonight into Prague with a long slow fade between 30 to 55 dB over S9. 1000 km.

Does anybody know how much power they're running?

Re: German MW & LW Transmitters to close

We have quite a blowtorch on 981 so unfortunately South Korea is only a dream here in CZ. There's a good 10 KHz of more of splatter below and above...

Long time no see and a question

Hello all, I hope you have been enjoying your radios. After a long layoff from the hobby and some big changes I've relocated to central Europe where I hope the MW and LW DX will be better. I recently got several radios in various states of health. The most troubling is an NRD-535 which is nearly dea...

Re: What information is available to the web bots and spyders?

It would appear somebody turned off the bot display on the forum to avoid future complaints? Earlier they were on almost constantly and now I haven't seen one in a week.

Can you check the disk, John? Given the problem is in certain locations on the disk it could be you have bad sectors or an incipient disk failure.

Re: Elad FDM-S2 Vs Sony XDR-F1HD - Initial Comparison

spybot is good and should definitely be used on Windows monthly at least but it may not be enough for a smart virus. And John while you said you did a complete wipe the worst viruses live in bootsectors so if you don't use something like a linux live CD and dd the first 512 bytes the problem can sur...

Re: RTE 252 going qrt?

Well they've only committed to 2017 so I'm not sure common sense won. I suppose they'll try again and if people scream and stamp their feet they'll get another two years at a time.

Nulling is one of the benefits always touted by loop antenna hawkers. It sounds like it would be ideal in many situations. Thanks again.

Re: meteor pings help

Thanks, that looks too simple to work! I am dreaming of making one up with copper tubing inside PVC for a self-supporting structure. The loop format is supposed to be very effective on LW and MW also.

Re: Geminids

The website http://www.stellarium.org has a free Stellarium program that is absolutely fantastic - saves having to work out right ascencion etc etc. It has a load of features including a plug-in to drive motorised telescopes, but the straight simple skyview with fast fwd/rev controls is all I need ...

Re: The Evils of the TV Licence

5 billion pounds? How is that possible? We were ripped off by one of the internet providers. It's a small country and there is often nowhere to turn when you're not satisfied with a vendor, provider etc. We had cancelled the internet and moved to another company and the old one billed us for a year,...

Re: What's behind DAB and other digital modes?

Everyone, thank you for your insights and comments. Living as I do in a non-digital "country" and being a deliberate late-adopter of technology I had only read about these developments and have no personal experience with them. I like Nick's approach that digital modes should be an add-on and not re...

Re: The Evils of the TV Licence

Sorry to hear this, John. Back home this would have resulted in civil war. In my new place of residence there were the same awful things you described and more. People had personal property forfeited by the courts and others were dragged through the system and given steep fines. We actually received...

WRTH 2015 went live today

If everything went according to schedule WRTH 2015 was released today. I had emailed them a few months ago suggesting a spiral bound copy would be really handy and I was happily surprised to receive a reply saying they liked the idea and would indeed produce some. I don't see it on the website so if...
