Re: XHData D-808

Received mine yesterday. Seems a keeper - good MF sensitivity. RDS seems ok as well but need some lift conditions to see just how good it is.

Tecsun 310 and 380 for sale - £10 each!

Re: Who is leaving MW at the end of this year?

To be clear - 1215 after dark in south of France is a very good signal with good audio. Other UK frequencies also propagate well including 1548 - Capital Gold.

Re: The Conditions Thread

It is "cheating" if you try and pass off these DX catches as your own without explicitly stating you were using a remote SDR.

It doesn't matter two hoots at all, of course, Just a matter of integrity - personal or otherwise.

WZAN ID on 970 at 0700. Quite rare for me to hear this as in the SE Premier on 972 splashes all over.

Re: Quiet Forecast .... Suddenly, a K7 !!!

A forecast is an educated guess. It will have a reliability and probability factor involved with it. The VOACAP model for HF propagation can achieve 90% reliability figures though that means that they are wrong 1 day out of 10. MF skywave propagation can not be predicted with any degree of reliabili...

Re: The Conditions Thread

1130 is the other strong signal here. Oddly enough 1390 doesn't seem as strong as it does in London or Carca.

Re: The Conditions Thread

After reviewing the early morning files i would say the evening enhancement did not continue. However.............is Newstalk 1010 CFRB stronger this season? Or is it this QTH? It's by far the strongest signal all night and after sunrise.

Re: The Conditions Thread

East Coast regulars were enhanced last night. Even KDKA 1020 was coming through at midnight here which is not usual.

Seems like Rob upgraded from SDR Play 1 to the SDR Play 1A!

Bjorne Melde has been testing these cheap SDRs for MF - looks like the top performer is actually the new Airspy HF+.

Re: Noise, Flags & K9AYs. Advice Needed.

That seems to me to be a power supply type QRM. Not VDSL I think .

You HAVE to be an amateur to report directly to Ofcom. Get your 7000 set-up with a simple antenna and record the amateur bands. I'm not sure of Ofcom report link but think you can get to it from the RSGB EMC section.

Re: Noise, Flags & K9AYs. Advice Needed.

I don't think swapping the Flag for a K9AY would help the noise issue. I also don't think underground cables are the culprit as the soil would grossly attenuate the noise. I may be wrong on both counts but on the balance of probabilities... Where does the noise start and where does it end on the spe...

Re: Radio Maria in every town and city across the UK?

I believe that television and radio is an exception to the EU's Treaty of Rome on the free movement of goods and services. This shows how open to business a post-Brexit UK will be - sclerotic protectionist EU take note!

Re: Radio Maria in every town and city across the UK?

This is a good thing - deregulating commercial radio. About time too. Who cares what is on DAB multiplexes - better than to have 50 versions of Heart which is what you have now on FM... The UK economy is the 5th or 6th largest in the world and has created more jobs in the last ten years than the res...
