Re: Es > Poland, Italy, Romania, Czech Rep. Slovakia, etc.

Band II Dxers in those location should monitor 276 with wsjt-x JT65/JT9 to see what marginal paths are actually open and anticipate an opening on your band.

Re: Was it just here?

For beverages you would normally refer to them as being in parallel. Jurgen has an article on his website where he refers to them as being "staggered". His separation distance was 10m.

Re: Es > Poland, Italy, Romania, Czech Rep. Slovakia, etc.

There is a graph that Tropo Nick posted in the hangouts group that showed - up to first week of July - the Sp E hours per year for last 10 years on 2m (144 Mhz). That showed that 2017 was 2nd best year. I was informed by the Band II dxers that this was a reliable proxy for Band II FM broadcast. Stuart

Re: Was it just here?

I don't think you can refer to "stacking" antennas when they are 100m apart!!

Re: lightning scatter

The biggest risk with lightning strikes is not a direct strike but a nearby strike which hits a transformer or something which causes a huge current surge. Though your master power switch may trip it's normally too late to save "delicate" items such as modems/routers/PCs etc. Here in the Cabardes ba...

Re: Samsung Galaxy s5 phone somehow plays audio on 87.6 FM with out an FM transmitter connected how

Well your phone does have a FM like transmitter inside it otherwise it would not be very mobile...

However in this case you are overloading the radio's local oscillator no doubt.

Re: Costa Blanca Radio - info

The northern part of the Costa Brava is known as la Marina. It is divided into two parts - alta (upper) and baja (lower). There are quite a few mountains and to have coverage of the entire coast from Alicante to Denia you would need at least two transmitters. The area has several English, Dutch, Swe...

For Sporadic E it is not critical though most dxers will prefer horizontal orientation.

Re: VAC / RDSspy issue running W10 ...

Well that's good news that it is working.

You must be using an old version of SDR# - I thought it only supported Airspy and RTL dongles now.

Re: VAC / RDSspy issue running W10 ...

As you have an Elad you're just unnecessarily complicating it by using SDR#.

In Elad Audio tab you tick VRX1 Enable Aux Out. Output Device is the VAC line. Mode is WBFM Mux.

In RDSSPY set source to Soundcard and select the VAC Line you set as Output device in Elad set-up.

If you are reporting Band II stations it would be useful to know the dxers QTH.
