Re: Please help me find a good portable radio

The XH Data 808 is an excellent portable set. The bang for the buck factor is hard to beat.

Re: KMOX / KFAB - 1120

There is a perseus splitter which works well with stock iq files. Need to see if it works with the Big Cat

Re: KMOX / KFAB - 1120

Are you using the stock Perseus application? There is a bug when you stop playback and then resume the frequency readout can be inaccurate. I don't know if this has corrupted the IQ file.

Are other stations where they should be? Can you make available say 30s of the IQ file?

Strange NA MF conditions overnight in western coastal scouselands. 06/07/08 were nothing special but some incredible signal strengths at 0500 from mid-West. Never hear 670 WSCR Chicago so strong and a new one for me on 620 WTMJ Milwaukee.

It's Boston's La Mega WAMG - there is an English ID at 22s with 94.9 audible.

Re: dx tip 16/1

Yes you are right - not every station uses the call letters (even though they should) but it should be noted on the log. Every season some stations dominate over others. Years ago WINS used to be very dominant but these days it's CFRB which normally wins the battle. CJYQ went very quiet a few years ...

Re: dx tip 16/1

Some nice loggings there. 590 CJCL is quite rare as normally VOCM dominates.

It's the convention when logging NA MF stations to id by the call letters. You can also give the slogan as it's very useful for others but the formal ID is the call sign.

Re: Sony XDR-F1HD vs Kenwood KDC-BT710 car stereo selectivity test

The car radio obviously has a narrower default bandwidth. With the Konrad mod you can very finely adjust the Sony BW up to 309 kHz and down to 9 kHz. Be a very different comparison then.....

Re: Quadrantids 2019

I think you will run into issues. SDR apps write a lot of data to the disk and there will be enormous contention between the two apps. No doubt memory buffering will come into play - how much memory do you have?

Can't each SDR record to a different disk?

Same here in western coastal scouselands- 5840 is S8 with average modulation whilst the 15m band signal not there as expected due to skip.
