Re: Noise, Flags & K9AYs. Advice Needed.

That seems to me to be a power supply type QRM. Not VDSL I think .

You HAVE to be an amateur to report directly to Ofcom. Get your 7000 set-up with a simple antenna and record the amateur bands. I'm not sure of Ofcom report link but think you can get to it from the RSGB EMC section.

Re: Noise, Flags & K9AYs. Advice Needed.

I don't think swapping the Flag for a K9AY would help the noise issue. I also don't think underground cables are the culprit as the soil would grossly attenuate the noise. I may be wrong on both counts but on the balance of probabilities... Where does the noise start and where does it end on the spe...

Re: Radio Maria in every town and city across the UK?

I believe that television and radio is an exception to the EU's Treaty of Rome on the free movement of goods and services. This shows how open to business a post-Brexit UK will be - sclerotic protectionist EU take note!

Re: Radio Maria in every town and city across the UK?

This is a good thing - deregulating commercial radio. About time too. Who cares what is on DAB multiplexes - better than to have 50 versions of Heart which is what you have now on FM... The UK economy is the 5th or 6th largest in the world and has created more jobs in the last ten years than the res...

Re: The Conditions Thread

Been good to East Coast last two nights. I would not have believed how well a short sloper could bring in NA DX if I wasn't the dxer! Here's how Newstalk 1010 was sounding yesterday morning in western Scouselands on a sloper! The sloper details are here https://www.sotabeams.co.uk/content/Using%20th...

Surprised you don't get Manx anyway in North Germany - it's running much more power than the BBC locals and is quite dominant on the frequency in Occitania.

Pete Tong was out and about in greater London though a KKGM id on 1630 was available at 0600.

Re: ft8 160m

The other major difference with wspr is that it is not a 2-way QSO mode - it's akin to a personal beacon.

Re: ft8 160m

WSPR would be superior. FT8 has been designed as a quick QSO weak(-ish) signal mode. Unless other digital modes such as psk, jt65, jt9 you can use high power on FT8. You can complete a QSO within 60s or less with FT8 as opposed to 5/6 mins with JTxx.

Re: Spain & MW: my view

The Spanish State is still very authoritarian - vis-a-vis the attacks on peaceful Catalan voters we saw recently. I'm sure there is an element of occupying the frequencies to prevent other stations from being heard. Yep - totally anachronistic in the Internet era but that's my theory.

WDEA is the most common station on this frequency. The schedule on their web site is missing though.

I'm sure your station is not Energy. Its format is pop/rock music - certainly no slager!

Energy Power from Dublin has been on 1395 all the holiday period. During the week they have been relaying Fun Radio Dublin. Weekends revert back to the Energy ID.

I agree that it is Spanish and not Portuguese. Surprised no one on RDX has id'd it.

IQ Recordings from Peru

Here's a Xmas treat for dxers - IQ recordings from Peru. LF/MF/60 and 49m bands. Many thanks to the well known dxer Don Moore for making these and releasing to the community.
