Re: 1611 kHz UK Free Radio Station

One or two still exist. Radio Britannia is currently reported on 1476 kHz.

Re: 1611 kHz UK Free Radio Station

It's not Norway's Northern Star - not // to their stream and it's still audible now. I've done some DF readings and the path indicates Northern Ireland or the East Midlands. I'm inclined to say it's from NI as I can see the carrier on the Lytham St Anne's kiwi sdr but not on Midland SDRs.

Re: dx tip 8/12

Didn't record overnight - no real excuses but a bottle of decent red, crap food and great conversation at local club do probably played a part... Here in the western coastal scouselands I would have to say 590 and 930 would take the honours though both the beantown and canuck 680 outlets can be very...

1611 kHz UK Free Radio Station

There is a UK free radio station on 1611 kHz which has a weak signal at my western coastal scouselands QTH. Last night it was playing non-stop pop/oldies and this morning it is playing old Radio Fax tapes announcing 6205 kHz.

Anyone else getting this?

Thanks

Thanks - Davie.

Thanks - Simon. I think I have WMBD but will have to remain presumed. Thanks for the comment on the audio level - certainly sounds good on my kit!

Cheers

Re: i am an idiot

Did WMAU have ABC at TOTH? I've just put a clip on RDX from 0700 yesterday which has a W call sign station with ABC News. Offset was around 1470.002.

Re: Ideal MWDX Equipment?

Well increasing QRN levels are what prompted research into Loops/EWE/Flags/Pennants etc. A long wire on the roof now would just be a noise receptor in urban/suburban environments.

Re: 1470 - 0500 sign off

Thanks for the list - all three Wallasey txers were/are locked but 1197 has bitten the dust of course.

Cool

Re: 1470 - 0500 sign off

"Wallasey 1485 is supposedly locked to 1485.0000" Where did you hear/read this, JF? I have met a lad in the local radio club who works for Arquiva and actually turned off the Absolute Radio outlet on 1197 from Wallasey recently. Last time I met him I asked him to see if he could find out if 1215 was...

Re: 1470 - 0500 sign off

John - what Jag settings do you use to get the continuous spectrum display? I assume you are using latest V4? Also - I am interested in why are you using BBC Merseyside for calibration? I usually use 909 or 1215 - however BBC Scousey is about 5 miles line of sight from here and makes 1480/90 unusabl...

Re: Prairie / West Coast Again!

My CFRY 920 id was at 0653 on 31/10 - annoyingly as people noted there is no TOTH id.

Interesting about 840. I obviously need to double-check recordings as all I have logged is WHAS.

Re: New German Station 1440

Pascal - I presume that the amplified loop is overloading your receiver.

JF/DH - Can’t you null 1440 - it’s not that strong is it? Agreed it is annoying when you hear slaager on an x- band 10 kHz freq.
