Re: 10-32000 kHz omni-dir antenna instead of MiniWhip?

A Flag antenna with noise source to its rear might work. An amplified loop will amplify your noise.

Re: Medium Wave Coaxial choke

That was the original definition over a hundred years ago. However the usage of QRN and QRM has evolved. I use QRN for " to mean any noise that interferes with propagation or reception of transmissions" and QRM for deliberate or unintentional interference from another station.

Plasma tv QRN is normally every 15k IIRC. Could be tv or a chinese switched mode power supply for cheap set top box.

Re: Ideal MWDX Equipment?

Bon app pour le futur andouillette et frites! Chablis - pas mal comme pinard eh?!!

NA MF season extends into April so pas de souci.

The XHData D-808 (again eBay) is a very good portable receiver.

Bien a toi

Re: Ideal MWDX Equipment?

It was an unfair dare as I actually do like Andouillette but many rosbifs don't! Not bad with loads of mustard but don't smell it too closely!

Re: Medium Wave Coaxial choke

The two cores mentioned here are what you need - largest for power cables and smaller for data leads.

Re: Ideal MWDX Equipment?

Patrick Attached is a poor picture (sorry about the sun - lovely here in the western coastal scouselands this morning) of the business end of my Flag antenna. Look at how small the vertical section is - I am using a kafa2500 Flag balun. Now my location is much better than yours for NA but all the sa...

Re: Western Sahara (AOE / MRC) 711 kHz

"This list does even consider Illes Balears to be an own country. " If you are referring to the ARRL DXCC list then you are mistaken. As I have already stated hams have the concept of "entity". This is similar to but certainly not the same as "country". There are many complex criteria which ARRL use...

Re: Western Sahara (AOE / MRC) 711 kHz

Western Sahara is divided into the Moroccan occupied part and a small part controlled by Polisario. ARRL (who run DXCC) consider Western Sahara to be a separate "entity" - note hams have the definition of "entities" rather than countries. The UK is actually seven separate entities for ham purposes. ...

Seemed to be some Latins around at 0500 in the Cabardes foothills of southern Occitania. I just sent a suspected Cordilliera ID to RDX.

Re: Ideal MWDX Equipment?

Unfortunately this setup will not be good for MF DX. Amateur rigs attenuate the MF band in order to eliminate break-through on top band from powerful local MF transmitters. Here are your rig's AM sensitivity figures: AM (10 dB S+N/N) 0.1-0.5 MHz: 2 uV 0.5-1.62 MHz: 32 uV 1.62-24.5 MHz: 0.2 uV 24.5-3...

Re: SkywavesDX links are blocked on Facebook/Messenger!

Hmmm - this time links to the forum are ok on FB posts but being blocked in Messenger as Lucas says.

Once again I've requested FB to unblock. Might be useful if other people tried to pass a forum link in Messenger and then clicked through on the link provided to complain about the blocking.
