Re: Jiangxi News Radio 1350

According to http://www.asiawaves.net/mediumwave-1350.htm they are operating two different transmitters on that frequency, broadcast at the same site. Don't ask me why: 1350 kHz 50 kW Jiangxi Transmitting Station 802 {江西802台} 2200-1600 (off air Tues 0600-0900) 1350 kHz 1 kW Jiangxi Transmitting Stat...

Re: The Conditions Thread

guess the winter's season is already over yet. none remarkable activity was heard the last 2 days after conditions were really lousy yesterday (except from a short period at night when Faroe and Ireland were strong). plus heard the blackbird singing 2day. spring`s there and sporadic-E is awaiting ou...

Does Washington already have its summer timetable?
Just heard VOA signing on at 1801 UTC with Yankee Doodle tune.
According to schedule, this is not supposed to be.
Usually, sign-on at 1530 AM from STO is at 1829 UTC=1929 CET.

819 China

after having caught the North Korean test tone until 2024 UTC yesterday, between 2040 and 2200, a Chinese one popped up and suddenly swamped out the socialistic voice of freedom: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JFTakmv-PCc regarding the ID given in this clip at 2:25 and according to the soundfile on...

1143 kHz

This is Taiwan Fishermen’s Station, isn’t it?
The ID sounds different from that one audible on intervalsignals.net, though.
However, I could not imagine who else this could have been.
Would be nice if someone confirmed.

Re: A Perfect Sporadic E 'Fan'!

yes I have seen sth. like this before and I might need this to "direct" my future logs each day I see activity. During ES, you cannot predict or you never know which stations gonna come through next, but there is a slight chance to predict the direction / country or area. If you hear stations from S...

Re: The Conditions Thread

Taiwan Fishermen Station gives a very good signal today @ 1143 kHz. Signal fading up to S=3 and then cannot be heard for minutes. If anyone wants to log or QSL this one, try it NOW. Also VOA Afrique from Sao Tome with good signal @ 1530 kHz. Broadcasting health prevention show in french language. NO...

Re: North Korea on medium wave

yes condx were pretty shitty (hey, that rhymes!) last night... some thoughts about the "noise carrier" on DPRK's tx, this might be also a result of bad uplink quality: https://swling.com/blog/2016/07/the-voice-of-koreakcbs-pyongyang-on-shortwave/ What I find odd is their “dirty/white noise carrier.”...

Re: The Conditions Thread

Which frequency did you manage to get this asian one?? Might this be Thailand or Vietnam?? or even Cambodia, Laos... !? 819 was audible all day long but only by S=2 / O=1-2. however, the start up with test tone and interval signal was clearly on. the loud noise (like some mix of DRM audio and waves ...

Re: DX records

Norway in France, excellent! I wonder if this works out the other way round, now Norway having left FM. Regarding E-skip, there is always one upper and one lower personal record: - the most far-away distance (e.g. double hop, multi hop or ES-tropo combi) - the nearest / shortest distance (low distan...

many thanks for your support! I wonder if those txs will reach my with 50 kW max. ERP ? my location is excellent for Korea, Philippines and Taiwan, it seems - but Japan, Thailand or Vietnam (and even India) has always been difficult.

Re: 3x (far?) North East UNID

wow, excellent work! thanks a lot. Japan was on my mind regarding that audio but I dumped it as I could not find a JOQR recording on the web to be compared with mine. I am quite sure now it has KBS in it, but the recordings on intervalsignals.net sound different. gonna check their webradio tomorrow ...
