Sony XDR-F1HD vs Kenwood KDC-BT710 car stereo selectivity test

At first, when I posted on this forum regarding selectivity about Kenwood KDC-BT710DAB car stereo I thought it's about the same as the famous Sony XR-F1HD. Since I have both radios now, I decided to compare the selectivity on FM. Here is a video receiving 92.7 BBC R4 from Sutton Coldfield TX, (tropo...

Re: Tropospheric Forecast 29 Dec -01 Jan

I hope it wasn't too expensive! I noticed on a couple of recent videos you had the XDR and I thought I hadn't seen it before. All we need now is a good tropo! Hi again Nick. Sorry for my late reply. I paid little over $140 just for the radio. Shipping was about $30 (via GSP) and customs about $27. ...

Re: Tropospheric Forecast 29 Dec -01 Jan

The XDR comes alive for RDS when you do the Konrad mod. Stuart Yes, I was thinking about doing that but I am not sure if I can handle software side! At first, I will have to convert it to 12V operation and perhaps Konrad mode in the future? I need time for this. I mean no obstructions such as i.e. ...

Re: Tropospheric Forecast 29 Dec -01 Jan

Hi Nick. Yes, I bought it in early December and I received it yesterday. I did a little comparison and, to be honest, I prefer the sound of XDR. There are three comparison videos that I recorded for Radiopolska forums. The one you seen it, receiving France Musique and two other videos: https://www.y...

Re: 87.8 The Rock (London) received via tropo in Southampton

The Rock is a pain in the arse here on 87.8 as it's an end stop signal, OFCOM take them off and they just keep coming back. There are also carriers just left on for months, Rude FM have been off the air for ages but they still keep a carrier running on 88.2. The same goes for S-Dance on 96.1 and Me...

Very little enhancement here. Nothing spectacular though. Jugging by the maps New Years day will be the best but tropo is slowly dying.

Re: Tropo on Christmas day?

The furthest low power catch from last night would be (IRRC) 102.70 NRJ from Abbeville 1kW@237 km. I got a few signals from Abbeville area.

Excellent conditions to France and Belgium this morning. Best log so far Radio Plus from Gent on 107.7 (353 km) listed with just 40 watts! Fantastic Nick! This one transmitting in circular polarization. I don't get such a surprises here :( Thanks Zach. That one is 100% confirmed with an ID. I have ...

Re: Tropo on Christmas day?

All the usual suspects are a bit 'up' here plus some NL and a bit of Caen by the sound of things. Just a bit up the road from Zach_M! I was getting signals from France, mainly tropo regulars, but not as strong as with previous tropo. No RDS this time. Signals were rather short lasting and with less...

Re: Tropo on Christmas day?

North France was well enhanced last night so there is a possibility that you was getting 106.8 from Villedieu-les-Poêles, but 1kW TX site would be more realistic.
