Re: Ideal MWDX Equipment?

That's interesting regarding the attenuation on MW, Stuart. My own experience of ham rigs for MW DX have been good. There was a TS rig of Julian's I used a few years ago and it was VERY good on MW. The selectivity and audio quality were both excellent. I don'r recall anything remotely reduced regard...

Re: How long before Spain on MW close ?

Not really. Loop are generally very good at rejecting local noise, but each situation will be different.

Re: Tropo 17/11/18

It's moving north at last. :) Rangstrup is now noise-free in mono and a few other Danish transmitters are appearing.

Re: How long before Spain on MW close ?

The last time I heard anything about this was roughly a year ago. I cannot remember the source, but it was said that Spain had two years left before switching off MW. I haven't heard anything since. Maybe some our Spanish members know more. We will still be left with the Romanians and I don't think ...

Quiet Conditions on MW again ...

Mirroring the conditions at the end of October when the Prairies / West coast came through so well. The question is, will November deliver the goods? If anything, the solar wind is slightly lower than it was then.

Re: Tropo 17/11/18

Interesting how the relatively short distance between you and me, Catherine, is making such a big difference. Denmark is only just beginning to appear here with Rangstrup, weakish and noisy, but Holland is now good.

Why don't you try a Washington state receiver? You might receive it even better.

Re: Western Sahara (AOE / MRC) 711 kHz

A good question. I used to refer to the DXCC country list. http://www.arrl.org/files/file/DXCC/2016%20DXCC%20Current.pdf This is for radio hams of course, but it is one of the most definitive country lists I know of. How do we standardize such a list for all DXers? We can't. But for FM, personally, ...

Good signals right into central Germany! No time here to listen though

Only Rangstrup from Denmark at the moment.

Re: I am JF's best mate!

I wouldn't understand it anyway. I have never played on fruit machines either. We have millions of the things here too. The only gambling I do is when I make my overnight recordings on the off chance that I might wind some good DX. (Was that too corny?) :)

You're welcome.

It's probably 100% certain that you had WWMI. I understand about the lack of ID. If there isn't enough other evidence, then it's best to mark as tentative or presumed, but there's extremely little doubt in this case.

Medium Wave Alert

Conditions on MW have recovered substantially here. Plenty of Korean, Taiwanese and Japanese time signals heard, some with audio and IDs too.

Hopefully North America will follow suit overnight.

A lot of Germans here too, but only from the nearer parts of Germany which I already receive under scatter. Nothing exotic so far.

I have the vaguest of audio around 0237 if you would like me to upload for comparison. There is some noise at that time here but you can hear the OM for a while. Let me know Simon.
