Re: Hi from North London

 Oh, I shouldn't laugh, but I am in exactly the same boat at 57. Yes - I can remember Ena and Minnie. I don't recall Martha though. I don't think I am losing the plot just yet Arthur, but I can be very forgetful these days. If only they'd bring back the test card and music. (What's breakfast?)

Re: Hi from North London

Digital Spy has been good to us, feeding a few members to us over the years.

If anybody wants to post about Coronation Street, we have the Off Topic forum. I'm looking forward to Pat Phelan coming back into it. I mean, poor Eileen. Oooh! It's all happening on the Street!

Re: Absolute ask permission to close MW relays

1242 Boston/Kirton Drove is still the strongest signal on the band, as usual. I don't think this one is being affected. I doubt it would make any difference if it reduces power. The only good thing about this tx is that it is a proper local without any kind of fading or distortion at night, and so c...

Re: Voice to text language translation

I tried this a few months ago Dave. I didn't get it to do very much, but it did work on common European languages. I hope this system will get better over time.

Doesn't the overall performance roll off due to the wider bandwidth?

Re: Where can I find obsolete laptop drivers?

Does the laptop need a connection to the internet? It doesn't currently have one.

Where can I find obsolete laptop drivers?

A friend gave me an old Toshiba Satellite laptop. It's an L500-1XC. I cannot find the drivers for this. Somebody told me that you *can* still get obsolete drivers, but I forgot the name of the site. There are many sites claiming to have the drivers, then they ask you to download their software. Hmm....

I'm really surprised you didn't get anything else. Was this in the post-tropo flat period? You should have had German transmitters too. Perhaps just unlucky timing.

Re: Danish Tropo!!!!

Ah! Chapel St Leonards is not Skegness. It's eight miles north of Skegness and t'other side of Ingoldmells, which is also not Skegness, though the holidaymakers say it is. There's a bit of cliff at Chapel, or slightly higher sea defences, whichever way you want to look at it. Very good for the conti...

Re: Danish Tropo!!!!

That's Radio NL from Rotterdam. 18 kW. A pest here.

I don't recognise that part of the beach as being in Skegness. Where were you? Chapel St Leonards?

Post Tropo Flatness

I was in Spilsby this afternoon. So I thought I would take a small detour as I left, to visit West Keal. Egem almost always sits there at or just below RDS levels, but there was barely a trace of it around 16:00. Such a contrast from the good signals I have been getting while driving around town. Th...

Hello Barry and welcome to the forum. I hope somebody will be along shortly to answer your question about the Tecsun antenna. I am also a G3. I have been trying to re-activate my station for a few days to take advantage of the Es using GT8. No luck, unfortunately, as the computer side of this always...

Re: Demise Of Dutch FM Locals

Very interesting Julius. Thank you for the information. I suppose this is a good way to keep local radio on the air, rather than watch while some stations collapse. It also halves the number of local stations and therefore de-clutters the band for Dutch DXers, but what a sad sign of the times. Nice ...

Re: The Conditions Thread

I am still recording! I haven't been able to post for the last couple of weeks due to a computer re-install and then not being able to log into the forum for a couple of weeks. Still receiving stations like CHIN 1540 quite regularly, but there's barely any audio from TA signals until 0100 at the ver...
