Re: 657 unid Asiatic time signal

Scrub the last message. More confusion over tones and things. I recorded this via the Kanuma City Kiwi SDR this morning: https://app.box.com/s/1rppn4f1i0na2ravjuh4c2d3xs97qkoy KCBS I presume.

I need a better signal next time, but it does indeed look like I had KCBS.

Re: 657 unid Asiatic time signal

Thanks PFM. Mauno in Finland checked his recordings from yesterday evening and he told me that KCBS did NOT air a time signal at 17:00 but merely went from one piece of music to another on the hour, with a gap, but no time signal. He also sent me a recording of the KBS time signal, which was too low...

Re: 657 unid Asiatic time signal

My mistake. I just had to make a couple of apologies as I got things confused. This medication I am taking is really affecting my concentration. In short, I have just heard another recording of 657 at 17:00, It seems this is not KCBS as they did not air a time signal at this time. Nor is it KBS, who...

Re: 657 unid Asiatic time signal

Thank you very much PFM. I had a couple of private replies from the RealDX crew, also confirming that this is North Korea. There's no ID, but I too can possibly hear the woman speaking before the pips. It's not ever so convincing, but those higher-pitched pips are quite distinctive. A new personal f...

657 unid Asiatic time signal

https://app.box.com/s/55n6dwz3mqwl65jlk43ys9cvphi0oqbq

I heard a new Asiatic time signal yesterday evening on 657 at 18:00. I can just about make out speech but it's probably too weak to be of use, but the time signal is distinctively high in pitch. Does anybody know who this belongs to?

Thanks.

Re: Bread-board circuit construction any one?

As a child, I used to have had a couple of Philips 'Electronic Engineer' kits. I remember building walkie talkies and yes, a crystal set! I can't remember the years. Maybe I was 10 or 11.

Re: i am an idiot

It's the smaller files which can be retrieved. Large files such as SDR recordings get overwritten far too easily. I have rarely been able to recover an SDR file, unless I have just deleted it. "Recuva" is the programme I use.

Re: i am an idiot

David, I do the very same things and not just once lately.

I have hung on to my recordings from the excellent conditions on November 1st so I can make some videos o the exotic stuff, but I still haven't found time to go through everything.

What day is it?

Re: 1470 - 0500 sign off

http://www.myradiobase.de/mediumwave/mwoffset.txt This is/was the old MW Offsets list. It's out of date now with the most recent update being from 2015. There were a lot of updates in 2014, then it dried up. A shame. Such a list needs keeping constantly up-to-date. But search through for BBC transmi...

Re: 1470 - 0500 sign off

In fact, jumping ahead slightly, there might be something new on the horizon regarding offsets which I cannot tell you much about just yet as it's still in the planning stages. More soon I hope.

Re: 1470 - 0500 sign off

It is common knowledge (although not in most UK households!) that certain BBC transmitters are locked. I forget where I saw this but I have seen 1485 in such a list. Maybe it was the MW Offsets Yahoo group. I cannot remember, but I have always understood it to be reliable. I was surprised to find th...

Agreed. It looks grim for a few days. Solar wind is has been on the increase for the last two or four days at least. There's a brief forecast for quiet conditions on the 5th and 6th December (See http://www.solen.info/solar/ ) but then the forecast contradicts itself by stating that CH898, a recurre...

autoscan.jpg This is AUTOSCAN. One of several scanning apps in Jaguar. Click "S" (lower left of screen) Select AUTOSCAN and the hours you want it to scan, plus the speed. I use a speed of "10" which my computer can handle. It can just about manage "8" but either complains or frequencies at the top ...

I used BBC Merseyside to calibrate against, if of interest. Very clearly we have the same signal at .003.

Re: RUS Analogue TV Shutdown Started

It was good while it lasted.

I haven't done TV DX for a few years. I loved to detect the carriers with my Icom PCR1000, fed through to SpectrumLab. Happy memories. Sadly now gone. :(

Re: 1470 - 0500 sign off

Grab 1470 04-12-18.jpg
I have a suspicion this is WWBG Greensboro NC. The offset is right and I am sure this is Spanish with a bit of English thrown in near the top of the hour.

What do you think?

Nice one David! :) That deserves a celebration. Don't worry if you don't do it. What I have here is so borderline. I can only hear something *resembling* CW.
