Re: Skegness Log: 2018-10-21 (Tropo: F)

Thank you! :)

I love it when the tropo is intense enough so I can switch to vertical and receive the local stations.

I have visited Brest and have driven through several times on the way to Le Guilvinec.

In CW12? And you are called Emily Moore?

Probably the only post we'll be seeing from this joker.

Are they definitely on now? I will turn the flag towards Sweden later if so.

Good signals from Brest locals this evening with some personal firsts, but I won't be DXing. Too tired after a long day and several nights not sleeping very well.

Good DX!

Re: Catherine's loggings from Norwich

I can *just* hear this here Catherine. I have to sit on the frequency for ages and wait for it to fade up out of the noise. Even then, I have to check their web stream to be sure - it's SOOOO weak and Banbury Sound usually squashes it!

Late DX Tip: 17-10-18

Just caught a double ID on 1510 at 23:00. WWBC Cocoa FL gave two IDs alongside WLAC Nashville TN.

Good DX!

Re: 1350 NBC Sports Radio

Thanks Simon. I already logged it as definite as all factors present pointed to WDMC without any doubt in my mind. It just so happened that I did hear an ID a couple of mornings ago.

Appreciated.

1350 NBC Sports Radio

At 03:35 this morning there's an NBC Sports Radio ID on 1350. I don't hear any call letters but the signal was very weak.

The usual sports suspect there is WOYK York PA, but they carry Fox Sports Radio. KRNT Des Moines IA are ESPN.

Maybe WARF Akron OH?

Late Fadeout

The east coast is always the first to lose overnight transatlantic signals. Even so, I had WWKB 1520 until well past 0800 this morning. I think that is something of a record late TA here and we're only in October! I guess this will extend to 0900+ on the west coast of England and probably beyond 100...

Re: 13-10-18 Observations

What you should find is that, after setting the resistor to null a station mid-band, that null should be effective across the whole band. Gradually tapering off at the band edges, possibly, but the null should be band-wide to a large degree.

Re: 13-10-18 Observations

Good question. I would say yes, definitely, because there is bound to be something you want to fine-tweak. The noise in my case, but there is another example. My local TalkSport 1107 from Boston is solid here, but not mega strong. Since it is a stable signal, I was able to null it out by adjusting t...

Re: 13-10-18 Observations

I am a Bodgitt & Scarper Ltd. man. Always have been. Always will be. The flag started off with the best intentions here, also the correct dimensions, spacing, etc., but it currently works better like this. If you look at it along the lines of stringing up a wire in the shape of the flag, then yes, t...

Re: 13-10-18 Observations

My flag. Flag 1.jpg Flag 2.jpg It works better like this! The yellow wire is the base wire. I have far less noise when I raise the centre of this wire and wrap it around the plant. The green coated wire is the top section, which is part of a continuous run for the rest of the flag wire. The ve...
