Re: Southampton Common Files 04-08-2018

I never understood the IQ thing, so I'd better leave it to those who understand.

As always, very interesting to be able to tune (part of) a band from another part of the country on your own receiver.

Re: dx tip

I have re-wired the flag in its entirety only recently with a brand new length of coax, transformer, etc. It's all been working fine and I re-checked it all only yesterday. I am tempted to hook it up to some RG213 while it's there. I was going to use this for ham radio operation this summer but I co...

Re: Southampton Common Files 04-08-2018

That's done it. Thanks.

Just listened to your first file so far. I hear 89.0 which I presume is a pirate. Some meteor scatter pops up on 87.6 too, together with a very weak French station. Maybe RMC Info.

Really? I was going to say Turkey.

Ah yes, weak Spanish on 90.4. Wait ... it's gone.

Re: dx tip

Me too. Could be the 'wrong coast' effect, but I have been experimenting with the flag over the last few days. Trying different sizes and horizontal wire positioning. Noise levels are very low if I am careful, but at the risk of reducing everything else. The signal to noise ratio is key, but I don't...

Re: Southampton Common Files 04-08-2018

It didn't work. Thanks anyway. I might get SDR# at some point. It's a great bit of software. // I can't see a download link on that page, just a link to some SDR# plugins. Then there is an ad for "Meet With Unmarried" dating on http://rtl-sdr.ru/category/sdrsharp. I give up immediately with pages li...

Re: dx tip

In fact I can barely hear any TA this morning! A very weak WWKB on 1520 is the best I can manage.

Iam Radio was blocking 1350 throughout the night. Grrr!

Re: Southampton Common Files 04-08-2018

What's the recorded bandwidth? Just downloaded to see if it would play in my FDM-S2, but it didn't. I am going to try to change the file header so need the recorded bandwidth. Thanks.

Re: dx tip

1450 is splattered out here Simon due to semi-local Gunthorpe on 1449. Even though it is already well reduced to the point of being able to hear BBC R4 from Aberdeen at equal strength at night (Saudi Arabia I think), it's still capable of destroying 1450. A question please - what was yesterday morni...

Re: Boston Pirates

96.9 would be just about a usable channel around here, but more towards the southern parts of Lincolnshire because of Viking. It's not very strong in Skegness though, so Boston or Spalding could get away with it.

Re: Boston Pirates

I'll keep a check on 87.5.

My plan is to remove the radio from my Astra and put my trusty Blaupunkt Nashville in, as I did with the Focus.

Seconded. Not seen anything like that before. Maybe the graphics card has run out of memory. Re-start software or computer.

I can't hear a thing, Tim. 87.6 and 87.7 are non-existent.

The carrier on 87.5 is unstable. I'm not even sure I am hearing any audio on it.

Are you sure this is the correct file?

Re: 107.5 Mystery US News in English via Perseids

They would need to be using some power if that was the case. A few miliwatts would need a generous meteor burst to propagate. My guess is an i-trip playing a YouTube video. Have you ever watched the next video after playing something of your choosing? It's quite a random choice and you never know wh...
