Re: Skegness Files: 2015-07-08 (Es: C SW & S Europe & Turkey)

I wish I had more time at the moment to go through these after yu have kindly identified some new stations for me.

Firstly, I was asked for the audio of my suspected Iranian reception on 87.6. I am trying to find that and upload a recording.

 Nope!

It's either 28-05-16 or 29-05-16, based on my logbook.

Re: Jaguar 4

Sounds good. It's good to keep the older versions, at least for a short while. I will be using the v4 AUTOSCAN permanently now. Probably too much juice for my laptop, so I may use v3.1 for that, unless I slow down the autoscan speed. Tests needed.

Re: The Conditions Thread

Improved North American conditions overnight. Decided to de-stress today and play radio. Some detailed notes after checking the band. 760 Is that religion on 760.0045? WCHP on high power overnight? 870 Probably WWL. Weak talk.870.9918. 960 Sports. Probably WEAV. 970 THREE stations just at audio leve...

Re: Jaguar 4

I am still getting used to Jaguar v4. Try AUTOSCAN, available from the "S" button, same location towards the bottom left. This replaces DAYSCAN and EXTENDED SCAN. There's also MONITOR and HOMESCAN in there, which I haven't used yet. I am running AUTOSCAN all the time, for 9 kHz Asiatic DX in the eve...

Re: This Evening's Orientals

Two nights ago, 20C at midnight with high humidity is way too uncomfortable for sleeping. Bring on winter!

Nothing of interest noted from Asia yesterday evening.

Re: 1420 - 18/9

I think it's a combination of two stations. There is a Newstalk 14-20 ID in the first, but it seems to be abruptly taken over by the letters "AVR", which would point to CKDY Digby NS. CKDY are on the AVR country network and have been known to announce this as an ID frequently. I can only guess that ...

Re: dx tip 18/9

Appreciated, as always David. 99% CJYQ here.

Something else does struggle, and fails to make inroads at 0300. Whatever it is has talk and very slightly lower in offset to CJYQ.

Re: 1480 The Team

WSAR are "ABC The Legendary", according to Topaz. http://topazdesigns.com/ambc/

I thought WHBC to begin with, but they are listed as Fox Newstalk Radio.

It's probably one of these.

1480 The Team

https://app.box.com/s/5ma3kmzgogfvy9g08emp93nz30866a8m

Is he saying 14-80 The Team?

ID seems to be "Sportsradio ... your home for news, talk and sports. 14-80 ....... "

At 46 seconds I hear "14-80 The Team".

At 58 seconds I repeat with noise filtering.

Re: This Evening's Orientals

I haven't heard that late time signal before but it's definitely not Japanese. They would be absolutely spot on with their timing. https://app.box.com/s/qxb1yxmc0xgsxcb4pz3swfny085l9bsn The first time signal is Japanese (1413 JOIF in this case) and I have heard several Japanese stations with this sl...

Re: Sick as a parrot!

I have ferrited around with these things for years, but there is good advice in choosing a quality ferrite - and with the right 'values', though I never understood that bit. I have never known a clip-on to work yet, but I'm sure some must do. I have had cheap and high quality Fair-Rite too.

Re: Sick as a parrot!

Ferrites do sometimes work. Just 'sometimes'. They did work VERY well for me some years ago, but have been futile at this address. What you could try Dave (and please forgive me if I've already suggested this.) is a flag antenna. Loops are bi-directional, as you know. The flag is uni-directional. Th...

Re: This Evening's Orientals

This is what surprised me. Furthermore, Barry Davies in Carlisle had DWUN on 1350 the previous evening! I've never had a Philippino station on MW, other than the giant VOA Poro on 1170. That would have been a good pointer.

This Evening's Orientals

The nights are drawing in and the Asiatic signals are getting earlier and stronger. Here is what I heard this evening. Those marked "Japanese style time signal" just have slightly higher pitched tones than a typical Asiatic time signal. Potentially a couple of firsts in here, but better signals need...
