Re: DOUBLE HOP ALERT! Exotics mixing Balkans

Balkans kept dominating. Definitely some interesting ones in there at times. It's not over yet though. Still a few bits and pieces hanging on.

Re: Dutch Delights!

Quite pleased with my little haul. I heard a good spread of stations. Mostly, these were better in daylight hours. There were too many other European signals dominating after dark. An interesting experiment! Sad to see so many of these low power Dutch community stations have closed down already. 747...

Dutch Delights!

I said I would do it ... and I have! :P I pointed my flaggy thing in the general direction of the Netherlands to try my luck with those flea powered Dutch medium wave transmitters. Success! Even in the daytime I can hear quite a few. No one stations seems to dominate a frequency for long. For instan...

Re: For the hell of it ...

There's no way of telling. All I could hear was the time signal. This is so far out of season I never expected to hear ANYTHING from over that way. Maybe CRI 1521, but nothing there at all. Their schedule has probably changed for summer. Looking in MW List, there are claims of loggings of the follow...

For the hell of it ...

... I thought I would place my flag in a north-easterly direction and look for Asia yesterday evening. DXers further east in Europe have been receiving some exceptional mid-summer (Sorry, I should point out that the term "mid-summer" is a reference to the time of the year with respect to medium wave...

Re: No Es-Season in Germany in 2019!

It's depressing. As often happens, May shows signs of promise. There were three days of Es noticed here, with a particularly good Balkan day on May 25th. Then ........ Occasional Algerian, Spanish and Portuguese signals have been heard very briefly over the last couple of few days. None have reached...

I heard Disco Radio too, but I could not locate such a station on 96.5. An unlisted transmitter.

Sadly, "File not reproducible". No, I don't have SDR# installed. Sorry.

Downloading this now. I hope it plays OK in my FDM-S2. It will be quite a time downloading on my pathetically slow internet connection.

Hopefully more soon.

Thank you Christoph. So maybe my flute music was Greek folk music. I have Portuguese at 03:05/6 too. 1350 never fails to deliver.

Re: Philatelists

Slightly OT: When I was 18, I bought some mint bank notes from around the world. I wasn't a collector and merely wanted to frame a few unusual bank notes and hang on my wall at the time as something a bit different from the average 'pretty picture' wall hanging. They looked great. When I checked on ...

Re: Philatelists

I sometimes consider Ebay to be the destroyer of the value of everything. Or I suppose that it could be argued that Ebay has brought prices down to something more realistic. Stamps are great little nuggets of history. It's like looking through a good family photo album. At some point I will have a l...

08-06-19 Not bad MW overnight

I recorded this morning, trying the latest eType Jaguar and all is working well. Conditions were interesting and better than I had expected. Lots of interesting carriers. North America wasn't bad at all. Even KXEL was there on 1540. I never had this down as a summertime catch. There were lots of int...

Re: Philatelists

I used to dabble in this hobby when I was much younger. I think it was my uncle I got it from. My father had a lot of complete sets of cigarette cards. Wills, Players, etc. He sold the more valuable ones, but I recently acquired the remaining stamp albums and reminisced heavily when I looked through...

I will do this now without having read anybody else's posts beforehand, but I guess you've already had some excellent replies. Some nostalgia to begin with... When I started FM DXing years and years ago, (It w...
