Skegness Log: 2017-09-17 (MW: Transatlantic)

1380 0304 CHL CB138 Radio Corporación, Santiago (RM) Thanks Matthias Gatzke for confirming the ID. A tricky one in the noise, but the format and offset also back this up. V weak 11795 km ** ** Personal First After an atrocious start to this year's transatlantic season, here is my first logging, but...

They do indeed. Thankfully, Spain is not a pain here, in the main.

Re: Warsaw bandscan

That's a shame Tim. Noise gets everywhere.

I can believe it regarding Romanian transmitters. Romania and the UK seem to have more transmitters on MW than anybody else in Europe. At least, that's the way it seems when tuning the band during the evenings.

Hope you had an enjoyable trip.

Hi Peter.

Harbour Light continued past sunrise here, fading out after 0600. This is unusual as I always see them signing off around 0355.

More straws to clutch at, but my grip is getting weaker. Actually, conditions were slightly better signals this morning but still there wasn't much to go at. Here are those I heard/presumed. 590 VOCM 640 CBN 650 UNID OM talk at 0120. 680 Jingle and tentative WAPA ID but too weak to hear in Spain 684...

Re: a pf this morning

Great catch David!

Nothing here on 870 at that time, but there was a carrier peak at 0311 on HCNY2's last reported offset. I can hear gentle music at this time, but there's nothing to go on, other than the offset.

Unfortunately, we are missing out on one of the best parts of the season, so I hope these flares are out of the way VERY soon.

Re: good ss morning

I honestly didn't think I'd hear any TA after reading your reports David & Simon, but there was quite a bit of audio this time. Still hopeless for the time of the year/sunspot cycle of course. 650 V weak audio around 0100. Two clear carriers present. 680 V weak music 0240. 700 V weak shouting OM and...

Re: Could this be the next "Must Have" FM DX receiver?

Unfortunately I won't be doing a more detailed video review of that car radio as I don't have the car anymore.

The radio in the old Focus I have now does not come into the running order.

Yes. Much stronger. It's supposedly the local relay. Tx is just west of Boston, so about 20+ miles-ish.

Re: An Improvement?

Nothing here. 840 is a difficult and well-splashed channel.

Wide guess, I know you said it began with "M", but what about Radio Bandeirantes from São Paulo? That could sound like an "M" at the start and may be the most likely South American on the frequency.

Re: "DAYSCAN (LIVE)" on Jaguar v3

That's right. But DAYSCAN (LIVE) runs in the background as you record. So you have waterfalls for each/chosen frequencies ready when you go to check your recordings. Otherwise you can run EXTENDED choosing the VFO option at any time.

Re: "DAYSCAN (LIVE)" on Jaguar v3

You can do this. Define your favourite frequencies in JAGUAR.INI with SET VFO. So: [MESTOR] SET NAME MESTOR1 SET SAMPLING 1600 CENTER 1098 SET DISK D:\ OVERFLOW E: SET QTH SKEGNESS, 53.1xxx, 0.3xxx SET VFO 530-1710 // SET ANTENNA 1 SET ALTSDR D:\PERSEUS\PERSEUS.EXE You can also define favourite freq...

Re: 918 kHz. since Slovenia left

Difficult to hear anything on 918 recently as noise has settled there. I'm fairly sure I've heard Dimtsi Wegahta a few times, but nothing in the way of IDs. The music seems to give it away. Carriers visible yesterday evening at 2000 were 917.9914 917.9941 917.9950 917.9955 819.0010 I tend to use Abs...

"DAYSCAN (LIVE)" on Jaguar v3

No, it's not a TV programme for DXers. It's the latest facility in Jaguar v3. For me, this is the ultimate feature of the latest version. Set "VFO 530-1710" in the JAGUAR.INI file, then click the "S" in the row of facilities in the bottom left of the Jaguar window. Select DAYSCAN (LIVE). I've also g...
