Re: The Conditions Thread

the Arab could be TWR Asia from Gavar, Armenia broadcasting in farsi and arabic language Thanks for that. What I presume is North Korea is coming in on 819 kHz on the Kongsfjord SDR with an excitable OM, with music in the background. Also a strange whirring noise coming and going. Possibly another ...

Re: North Korea on medium wave

Kongsfjord SDR now: 819 kHz has an excitable OM with music in the background, and some whirring sounds (?). I presume this is North Korea. The language sounds Korean.

Re: The Conditions Thread

China is belting in like a local on 1377 kHz on the Kongsfjord SDR, as per web stream. Normally I have heard an Arabic station on this channel here.

Re: Music Newly Discovered

Has anyone on here heard of the internet radio station Cybernetic Broadcasting System? It's known as the CBS for short, is part of the legendary Intergalactic FM family (run by I-F aka Ferenc E. van der Sluijs ), and has been on & off over the years in various forms, known for playing electro, Italo...

Was it E-skip from an NRJ network outside France? That would seem the most likely explanation.

Re: Goodbye Megane. Hello Picasso! But what is the radio?

Hi John, https://s14.postimg.org/u84pv01fj/2018_01_31_23_07_55_Greenshot.png I posted this screenshot in a different thread. You'll find on it NXP customers. Delphi is on top of the list. Of course, XDR tuner is obsolete and no longer available, so Delphi stereo has a newer tuner. Most of today's c...

Re: Music Newly Discovered

I'm guessing Can were big Miles Davis fans. 'Rated X' has a similar feel. I think I may have to investigate further. Here's a Terry Riley composition I heard recently on WFMU. It's his 'reworking' of a late 1967 RnB track by the Harvey Averne Dozen, 'You're No Good': https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=...

Re: BBC radio Wales taking over R3 relays

I found it in the 'Ogs Tim: https://www.discogs.com/Various-Mixing-It/release/1021496 Sounds excellent! 'Late Junction' is the closest equivalent now although I very rarely get the chance to listen to it to be honest. I can't imagine Radio 3 disappearing from FM in England at least for a long time y...

Re: Could this be the next "Must Have" FM DX receiver?

It may be an NXP chipset Zach but it is not the same as the one in the XDR. I was told this by an engineer I spoke to at BW Broadcast not long before I bought the RBRX Encore. He said that they couldn't use the XDR NXP chipsets for the Encore as they weren't available any more. The capture ratio is ...

Re: Could this be the next "Must Have" FM DX receiver?

Another option is BW re-broadcast receiver, just like Nick pointed above. The later use the same NXP tuners (chip) as in XDR series. Yet again, this is a more expensive option. Hi Zach. The older RBRX1/RX1 receivers used the same NXP chipsets as the Sony XDR-F1HD but the RBRX Encore uses a differen...

1377 kHz was audible on the car radio driving home from work on January 25th with music and Chinese OM. Conditions must have been excellent.

Re: 1053 Libya !??!

It sounds like Libya to me. This may also explain the strong Arabic station that was coming in well on 1053 kHz on the Kongsfjord SDR yesterday evening.

Re: The Conditions Thread

Well they should get with the 21st century ;-)

What I'm most curious about though, is that sort of propagation to Alaska unusual in Arctic Norway or is is common?

Re: The Conditions Thread

Is this cheating? As MW is useless here I've been using remote SDRs. Currently on the Kongsfjord SDR (Arctic Norway) KFBX is coming in on 970 kHz from Fairbanks, Alaska. Is this usual propagation up there?

1377 kHz CNR1 being received here again this evening.
I received this between 5.15 and 5.30 pm driving home from work on the car radio with music and an OM in Chinese. Conditions must be good.

Something Spanish on 1660 kHz on the Taunton SDR. Very weak but it sounds like lively talk.
