Wow! Fabulous conditions for North America at around 0500z this morning. I finally got a clear ID for WHO, Des Moines, Iowa 1040. Been trying for that for years.
Audio on most 10khz frequencies, plenty to check when going through recordings later.

Re: The Conditions Thread
John,
I think I have 1040 WHO at 02.00. Not a clear ID but talk of heavy snow in central Iowa, mostly around Highway 34. It would be a PF for me if I could hear an ID.

Reasonably good conditions for TA DX overnight. If anyone needs it, WBEN Buffalo, New York, 930 khz came through with a clear ID at 06.00.

Conditions this morning are nowhere near as good as yesterday, at least here in Kent.

Re: The Conditions Thread
Another good morning for transatlantic DX! Some huge signals here in Kent. I can't check overnight recordings yet as got to go to work, but suspect there will be some PFs in there.

Re: BBC January Closures
Yes, 774 has truly gone. 770 is affected a bit by BBC Essex on 765 which is S9+20db here, but it's still usable.
1530 is wonderfully empty!

Re: BBC January Closures
Grrrrr! Radio Kent still blasting away this morning on 774 khz. I was hoping these closures would be finally over by midnight on the 31st.

Re: BBC January Closures
I'm hoping that the BBC will close the rest of these transmissions by midnight on the 31st. Radio Kent on 774 khz kills off 770 & 780 for DXing around here in East Kent.

Re: The Conditions Thread
Thanks for your replies. Yes, I upgraded from an SDR Play 1 to the 1A. Didn't expect it to be much of an improvement but its noise floor is lower than its predecessor and it seems a lot more sensitive. Yes, I know about the Airspy HF+ & its very good dynamic range, suitability for MW DXing etc. Howe...

Re: The Conditions Thread
Were conditions to North America a LOT better this morning? Yesterday I upgraded my receiver from an SDR Play 1 to the new 1A. Just want to know if the much stronger conditions overnight are down to the new receiver or improved reception.

Thanks, David.
Checked my log and found WDEA received way back in November, 1978! Got a carrier and some audio on 1370 this morning, but nothing intelligible.

For anyone who needs it, WPGG gave a clear ID this morning just before 1.00z, followed by a Fox News bulletin.
A PF for me. Reasonable signal here in Kent considering its low power.

Oriental language on 1098 right now, moderate at times, mixing with Europeans.
The equipment here's quite modest.

WVNJ 1160 khz, Oakland, New Jersey
Although conditions weren't great this morning, I found a reasonable signal from WVNJ at 07.00. This is a PF for me and WRTH states it has a night time output of 2.5 kw. However, it was difficult to copy due to BBC Sussex on 1162 khz. It required a bandwidth of 700 hz and the use of two notch filter...

John,
Does Jaguar need to have a Perseus to work with recorded files? Could it be used with WAV files created by other SDRs?
