Re: Talksport nightime echo

Quite bad multi-transmitter echoing happening once again with TalkSPORT nighttime on the 1089kHz channel, which is surely an issue in many parts of the UK, unless fairly close to a 1089kHz transmitter to be strong enough to really dominate the channel at night. from the DX point of view this echoing...

Re: Was it just here?

Peter - Usually, you have far better results than I do, yet this morning I heard several North American stations. Nothing exciting, but WBBR 1130 was probably the best signal. There was nothing from regulars on 1500 WFED, 1510 WMEX and 1520 WWKB. Even 1560 WFME was a struggle. WMEX 1510 (Boston) we...

as well as the 'soup' in the regular band, Sunday morning 4/6/2017 around 11AM was getting what I presume Radio Studio-X on the out-of-band 87.3MHz The song 'living in a box' 'from 'Living In A Box' was playing - wasn't able to listen for long to try definitely ID the station. high voltage powerline signaling in LW

I notice 220kV power lines near me (county Cork, Ireland) have a signalling telemetry constant carrier on 215.68 kHz. This results in a low pitch tone of 320Hz on RMC 216kHz noticeable for a good few miles from the powerline . there are other carriers in/above the LW band from nearby (a few miles aw...

1680kHz signal

I am hearing this type (or similar) data transmission ( STANAG ?) on 1680kHz in 'X-band' at nighttime: http://www.sigidwiki.com/images/7/7e/STANAG4285_TFC.mp3 Anyone know where its transmitted from? I presume military origin (it is of course a familiar sound on various HF frequencies) PS: ferrite ro...

Re: RBRX Encore rebroadcast receiver

Sometimes on 87.5 there is a very weak iTrip on, usually playing what sounds like Turkish music. I noticed it was on yesterday evening, as it was quite clearly audible on the Encore, peaking in an ESE direction. When I tried the Sony XDR-F1HD on the same signal, it couldn't receive it at all. The E...

Re: 1650 carrier + tone

Tried around 12:30 AM this morning, no sign of it or anything on 1650 at all. In the AM 'X-band' area I received music on 1625kHZ and 1636kHz AM (I presume from Netherlands) as well as data on 1680. This with a Grundig YB400 on its own (not using any external antenna)

Re: 1650 carrier + tone

No sign of it in daylight (when tried Saturday) Yes it seemed to have got weaker and weaker with me since I posted above. Last night I gave one try and I couldn't hear it. Switching on BFO, I could tell there was a very weak carrier on 1650 but that could have been something else. (In comparison a d...

Re: 1650 carrier + tone

heard it for the first time last night 1650kHz AM after reading your post. The tone was not continuous, there was a pause of the tone every 10+ or so seconds. There was significant fading up and down in signal strength over several minutes It is here : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dJJcwOHxKNE and...

NDB (Beacon) on 1102kHz , probably off south coast of Ireland

Re: Ireland tropo 05/04/17

There are more Newstalk transmitters currently on 107.8 than just the 3 that is on FM List

Can you rule out 107.8 from Kilduff in the midlands (also home to RTE R1 on 90.2 as well as stations on 94.7, 103.9) ?

BTW Klub 87.5 is currently off air for several weeks now

Re: Streetlight interference?

I have pulled these things apart in the past and they have only the most rudimentary single-transistor oscillator to generate the 3.3V needed for the white LEDs. They seem usually to run at below 100kHz, but that would give 'odd' harmonics every 200kHz or so. I'd be rather surprised if the harmonic...
