DX atop a mountain, N.W. Co. Kerry southwest Ireland last Saturday (during tropo)

walked to the top of Mt Brandon, Co. Kerry (first time) in southwest Ireland last Saturday 28th August 2021 and there for a while around 6PM, did some DX, weather good, however conditions got increasingly unpleasant due to the midges (might otherwise done a bit more DX). Used an XHdata D808. this is...

Re: 88.5 WHCF BANGOR MAINE TA FM NOW

Paul, playing with google maps Truskmore Mountain (home of a main FM/TV site for RTE etc) appears to be probably in-line with you and Maine, USA. Do you have a clear path to the top of Truskmore? Just wondering might the signal have been diffracting over the top of Truskmore ??? , a case of a distan...

BBC Radio Devon's 801 , whilst it continues for now , has however had very low modulation for some time now. This may make it difficult to hear by DXers in its final weeks

Re: How to receive OIRT band with the OLD Sangean ATS-909

Hi KPC, a gap remains between OIRT and Band 2 from 74 to 87.5 MHz. At least, it's so in my ATS 909. Diodes that can be installed to alter FM band on the 'old' ATS909 to go below 87.5-108 (if is doesn't already:) D310 FM 76-108 MHz (indicated in Red in the first post) D314 FM 64-74, 87.5-108 MHz (in...

Re: How to receive OIRT band with the OLD Sangean ATS-909

After this mod do you have uninterrupted tuning coverage from OIRT all the way to 108.0 or is there a gap between top of OIRT and 87.5 ???

Re: 1749 - German and now English

What radio are you using??? seems you have a XHdata D808 .??? These can have images on the low end of its SW range, do this calculation: Try multiplying the displayed frequency by 7 and then subtract 360 from the results to get near the 'fundamental' (1749 x7 ) -360 = 11883. Nearest channel 11885 kH...

Re: Irish Church Broadcasts

If logging unidentified church transmitters it is a help to include the time (and day) the broadcast was received, as the schedules for churches could be checked to help confirm BTW a lot of churches that were using 27-28 MHz have ceased transmitting in recent years - I suspect equipment breakdowns ...

Christmas FM 2020 Ireland

The temporary station Christmas FM is currently on air in Ireland from multiple sites until Dec 27th, covering a large area of the country, so a possible DX target for those in many western areas of GB https://christmasfm.com/our-fm-frequencies/ In addition to the transmitters last year, a couple of...

Azores (was assumed Portuguese) FM reception South West Ireland last week (9th July 2020)

Here is the video of this reception. The video is reception of 105.8MHz Antena2 I have created a bitchute account as recommended here for DX videos: https://www.bitchute.com/video/BoD70HgxIMPp/ THis is the only video I made of the Azores reception (on phone which was running low on memory) - also a ...

Powerline telemetry I would speculate....

see if it increases near any powerlines around?

update:
Frequencies that could be used for powerline signalling in the UK (as an example):

Re: Portuguese FM reception South West Ireland last week (9th July 2020)

Nick, thanks for looking into this. Whilst I mistakenly assumed Portugal - I was at the same time puzzled as to why I had no Spanish FM signals (from north-west Spain) also. (I don't live near there - I'm about 80 miles drive away BTW) from there I was looking at other mountains in nearly all direct...

(I know its nearly a week ago, I meant to post this a bit sooner) On an XHDATA 808 whilst stopped hill walking (around here: 51.9529714,-9.9412795 -not exact , but within 100 meters I'd say after consulting go...

Most of the entries in the list above are of over a decade ago (I assume last time logged) so I imagine gone by now. I'm recording overnight tonight How often are they on air (assuming part-time) ? Maybe more likely to have activity on weekend overnights (Friday, Saturday) ??? I doubt they will all ...

Re: longwave 183 Felsberg off

But I don't understand why Europe 1 never turned his frequency into a "multiple of 9" one: I reckon that the most of common receivers and car radios are not able to tune on exactly 183 kHz and that didn't help the audience to stay numerous. There would be arguments for and against. Moving...

Re: XHDATA D-808 Longwave fix?

not about LW but SW : I notice the low end of shortwave / HF on the XHDATA D808 can have images of strong shortwave signals on much higher frequencies. These images are more likely to be noticed (depending on frequency) on the wider AM bandwidth settings as they may not fall exactly on frequency. Th...
