Re: Tesco RAD113B

. I do not understand the architecture of the device but it does not seem to use a Local Oscillator or have hardware IF filtering. The device has FM stereo outputs. On FM there IS a local oscillator which is approx just 0.125 MHz away, above or below, the received frequency, on these type of receiv...

Re: Peter in Las Palmas, 100 kHz selectivity

The radio has direct frequency entry, but there is no "enter" button, so there is a delay before the station is tuned in You'd expect that the Play/Pause button would function as an Enter button for direct frequency entry (I assume you have tried it ) ?? Any manual available online for this Bannixi...

Local Oscillator in PMR 446MHz walkie-talkies

Local Oscillator in PMR 446MHz walkie-talkies - I have a pair of PMR446 Walkie Talkies - Twintalker 4710DCP - bought in Lidl some years ago, I discovered that the Local Oscillator (LO) operates 21.4MHz below the received frequency (to create a 21.4MHz IF) and can be received in the vicinity. so for ...

Re: MW Offsets Records

The drifted 909kHz transmitter (it seems to have been Brookmans Park) was back accurately on 909kHz again as of yesterday, ending the annoying rapid flutter effect beat with other 909kHz transmitter carriers.

Re: MW Offsets Records

One of the BBC R 5Live 909kHz transmitters has recently gone several Hz off, this causing a rapid amplitude flutter when received with other transmitters in the network, would be audible in many areas at night where there is no dominant 909kHz transmitter. I do not know if its off by + or - ,or whic...

Re: Talksport nightime echo

Quite bad multi-transmitter echoing happening once again with TalkSPORT nighttime on the 1089kHz channel, which is surely an issue in many parts of the UK, unless fairly close to a 1089kHz transmitter to be strong enough to really dominate the channel at night. from the DX point of view this echoing...

Re: Was it just here?

Peter - Usually, you have far better results than I do, yet this morning I heard several North American stations. Nothing exciting, but WBBR 1130 was probably the best signal. There was nothing from regulars on 1500 WFED, 1510 WMEX and 1520 WWKB. Even 1560 WFME was a struggle. WMEX 1510 (Boston) we...

high voltage powerline signaling in LW

I notice 220kV power lines near me (county Cork, Ireland) have a signalling telemetry constant carrier on 215.68 kHz. This results in a low pitch tone of 320Hz on RMC 216kHz noticeable for a good few miles from the powerline . there are other carriers in/above the LW band from nearby (a few miles aw...

I am hearing this type (or similar) data transmission ( STANAG ?) on 1680kHz in 'X-band' at nighttime: http://www.sigidwiki.com/images/7/7e/STANAG4285_TFC.mp3 Anyone know where its transmitted from? I presume military origin (it is of course a familiar sound on various HF frequencies) PS: ferrite ro...
