20Sep18 Multiple MS

Here's a screengrab from SDR Console of a big MS ping at 0035 on 20 September. Virtually every channel between 87.5 and 93.0 MHz is occupied by MS signals.

Stations were logged from CZE, D & POL.

Re: DX records

Talking to the guy at Moonraker who took my order for an Airspy mini he said that around 1988 a BBC monitoring station received FM stereo from North America for around 20 minutes. This link describes in brief the work that the monitoring station in Caversham carried out for many years. They certain...

Re: Airspy R2/Körner 19.3 Yagi. Remote Access

Thanks Patrick & Zach. Patrick - 100.1 was probably Classic FM from Sutton Coldfield. BBC R2 is lower in the band, around 88-91 MHz. The domination by French stations here is normal. I get many more stations from France than I do from the UK. Immediately to the north of me are the South Downs, which...

Re: Airspy R2/Körner 19.3 Yagi. Remote Access

Thanks Zach.
I'll leave the server running probably until the next Es season. Then I may need to use the Airspy myself.

Airspy R2/Körner 19.3 Yagi. Remote Access

Hi, If anyone is interested and you have SDR Sharp you can now access my Airspy R2 remotely via SpyServer. My server address is sdr://saltdean.ddns.net:5555. The R2 is connected to my Körner 19.3-40 Yagi (unfortunately you can't control the rotator). I hope some of you will try it out and I'd apprec...

Re: 87.5 PI Code:0000 - Libya?

Hi Dave, This is religious talk, there's no ID there. It's the new(ish) Libyan Islamic station. Here's my recording from 3 May https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Pt6iK60TTcw FMLIST states it's in Benghazi, which may be right, but I have logged it 3 times so far and it's always been in with stations fur...

Re: VAC / RDSspy issue running W10 ...

Patrick, I recently started using VB Cable, replacing VAC, thanks to a tip off from Paul in Newhaven. It is working much better with my Airspy in SDR Sharp. You need to download Audio ASIO Bridge from http://vb-audio.pagesperso-orange.fr/Cable/#DownloadASIOBridge and set it up from there. Hope that ...

Re: Körner 19.3-40

Hi Dave,
No I don't have a 'spotter aerial'. Of course some signal does get through off the back etc, but personally I'm finding the advantage of forward gain/FB ratio is a huge plus.

Band 2 Bandscan Video

Last evening I made a bandscan video during an enhancement to NW France. Watching it back reminds me of what a busy band I have here. Anyone want to swap for a quiet location? :) The recording was made just after Spain (video available on YT) had faded out on 105.4 . My antenna was beaming 200°. htt...

I tried to have a look at the link but I get a "STOP! You are not authorized to access this page or browse the directory!" pop-up. Same thing with the North Africa FM database.
Should be OK now Nick

Körner 19.3-40

I decided I'd like to start the forthcoming Es season with a new toy. My near neighbour Paul has kindly adapted my Körner 19.3 beam to the newer 19.3-40 with enhanced F/B ratio. The boom has been increased to 5.7M long and dipole spacing has been increased to reduce side lobes, but the main objectiv...

Saint Lucia Log September, 2016

Just back from a trip to St Lucia in the Caribbean. I didn't have much opportunity to DX whilst there but here's a snapshot of what was heard via ground wave/tropo. All of these were logged using a Tecsun PL-390 with it's telescopic whip from the hotel room at sea level. Apart from the Saint Lucian ...

Re: Portable RX

Thanks to everyone who replied.
In the end I have decided to go for a Tecsun PL390, the price I got it at was irresistible. It should be adequate for my needs.

Thanks again
