Re: Extreme tropo in Australia

Also possible AM use? The D-808 is an excellent performer on MW with the built-in ferrite antenna and also on SW with the rather short whip antenna. Forget about it on LW though unless you have a decent external (loop) antenna for LW. Anyway, overall the D-808 is a very pleasant radio for mobile DX...

Re: 585 - China

The station underneath Spain is IRIB Radio Farhang from Tehran. At six seconds, the lady mentions "Jomhuriye" (Republic). No trace of Chinese is heard in the recording.

Re: 650 Greenland and 680 KBRW in

There was a faint carrier on 680 kHz between 1400 and 1600 this afternoon revealing some very fait audio (female announcer) around 1455 that requires some in-depth listening. Another faint carrier appeared on 1500 kHz around 1600 (maybe KHKA from Hawaii), but unfortunately no audio materialized. On ...

Re: non-US unid - 972 Asia with 4x beep time signal

Apparently in many cases the purpose of reception reports by DXers is simply not understood by the younger generation of station employees anymore... The 'digital natives' are communicating with their smartphones on the Internet and probably don't even know that there is somthing like analogue AM ra...

It's definitely a Chinese time signal, so probably Henan PBS.

Re: a few from this morning

My 0530 recording on October 31st revealed two very pleasant PFs:

930 CJCA
1000 KOMO

On 1510, rock music and announcements are heard very faintly. Maybe KCKK, but way too weak and noisy to identify.

Re: North Korea on medium wave

So the clip is on 819 Khz, recorded on Febr 12th 2018 2140 UTC . Ofcourse I'll try later tonight. Any thoughts on this will be appreciated. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6Zus1eYeU6M The language sounds like Korean and the unique style of presentation fits to North Korea, so I think there is no re...

Re: North Korea ?

My pleasure. The time zone switch also affected the schedule of their external service. Nice reception and recording btw, including the national anthem after the time pips and ID.

Re: 750 - spanish

The announcement sounds like "Nacional Informas" which is certainly a slogan for national news but might also imply that "Nacional" is a part of the station name. Maybe Radio Nacional Argentina?

Re: North Korea ?

No Asiatic time signal appeared on the hour either. I wonder if you had this instead of KCBS Pyongyang? The North Korean time signal is very distinctive. I think there is no reason to doubt he received North Korea. The style of music is unique and not heard anywhere else. Their time signal would ap...

Re: Tip 22/11

Hi John, I agree with Simon that there is a "Voz de la Esperanza" ID in your recording at 0:13 to be exact. It's weak, but it's there. Great catch!

The one on 1570 is Radio Bethel (typical mention of "Bethel" at 8 seconds).

Re: Abkhazia on 1350 kHz

Yes, it's undoubtedly Abkhazia. The national anthem of Abkhazia is heard in the first recording and the news with the distinctive jingle (the same I recorded last year) is heard in the second. Congrats on an excellent catch.

No doubt HLAZ is heard underneath Vahon Hindustani Radio in both your recordings, Simon (Korean language in the first one and their distinctive jingle melody in the second one, followed by an announcement in Korean). Congrats and fingers crossed you'll get them stronger some day. Vahon has been a pr...

Re: 918 kHz. since Slovenia left

Very interesting recording, John! The music in the beginning sounds Ethiopian to me as well and I also agree with Brookman Spark that there is a Farsi "Inja..." ID at 3:23 and the next words aren't "Radio Kerman". I'm neither sure what language the lady heard just before that ID is speaking nor whet...

Re: Exotic reception 67.04 MHz - 19 July 2017

Sounds like a Turkic language to me as well with some Russian words such as "Respublika", so if it wasn't Turkmenistan, GTRK Dagestan from Russia should be a likely candidate.

Re: Today's UNIDs from Israel and the Middle East

Congrats on your great catches from Israel, John! The one on 93.0 is Radio Kol Chai for sure, the ID is heard at 18 seconds. I can't hear any clue in your recording of 88.7 though. Radio Masr was received in Hungary about 20 minutes before your reception with what sounded like a phone-in show, but a...
