Ninesprings Yeovil and SWU Bristol

Two community stations are starting soon in Yeovil and Bristol. Ninesprings is already running test transmissions. Not sure when SWU will come on air, but they have started advertising their frequency so hopefully soon.

Re: Crazy FM 88.5 Amsterdam

Do you know how to make this work all the time? I find that it works for a bit, then the next time I try to connect it won't allow me to and gives various messages about not being able to connect. I have heard of 4-Play before as it has been streamed via http://geheimezender.com/Piraten_Streams.php ...

Re: Crazy FM 88.5 Amsterdam

It might not be overload actually, but there are a lot of stations right next to each other, and as the tuner is in auto-gain mode it's hard to get a bearing on what the relative signal levels are. In my experience with SDRs, it's not that useful to have the gain jumping up and down, as it rarely br...

Re: Crazy FM 88.5 Amsterdam

I didn't realise this was something you could do with the Airspy. Unfortunately, it seems the SDR is heavily overloaded at the BOB, and I can't adjust the gain :/

A good legal station for 80s/90s soul I found while in Schipole airport is Jamm FM on 104.9.

Re: the 1985 spectrum recordings transferred from Video tape

When I've got the time to download a file (they seem to come down very slowly), I'll try one out. They have .ddc extensions, but hopefully they will play if I change the extension to .wav and give it a valid filename so that SDR Sharp sets the frequency correctly.

Re: Southampton Common Files 04-08-2018

90.1 second file - This is a mixture of Hope FM and a mirror image of Radio 2 from the other side of waterfall. 13-20-34_90300kHz.wav This one has image problems from Radio 3 - Notice there is a mirror of 90.7 on 89.9, but also quite surprising is 89.5 which can't be the usual mirror image as the si...

Re: Southampton Common Files 04-08-2018

Note that like a lot of the cheaper SDRs, the center freq on and SDRPlay is obscured by the IQ spike. DC/IQ compensation is turned on but it doesn't get rid of the spike entirely. I've no idea what the spike at 88.0 is, just some local interference I expect. Even with it notched out (you'll need to ...

Re: Southampton Common Files 04-08-2018

That's done it. Thanks. Just listened to your first file so far. I hear 89.0 which I presume is a pirate. Some meteor scatter pops up on 87.6 too, together with a very weak French station. Maybe RMC Info. Great! However, you need to invert the IQ, as the pirate is on 87.6 :) The checkbox to do this...

Re: Southampton Common Files 04-08-2018

It didn't work. Thanks anyway. I might get SDR# at some point. It's a great bit of software. // I can't see a download link on that page, just a link to some SDR# plugins. Then there is an ad for "Meet With Unmarried" dating on http://rtl-sdr.ru/category/sdrsharp. I give up immediately with pages l...

Re: Southampton Common Files 04-08-2018

These are 1.536 MHz.

You can also download SDR# for free from the Airspy site, it should play these with no trouble, but you might have to flip the IQ (there's a tick box for that on the controls panel).

The centre frequency is in the filename already.

Re: the 1985 spectrum recordings transferred from Video tape

I offered him some recordings of pirates in exchange for letting us access the goodies. I'm hoping my polish pirate recording is still available somewhere or someone saved it, I think he would dig that you could even hear them blowing out the amplifier stage of the tx :D I missed that. When was it ...

This is not a full bandscan, but Tim wanted to see the files to see if any of the transmitters had faults or oddities that would help identify them.

Recorded with SDR Sharp. SDR Play RSP 1.

Re: Hampshire pirate radio thread

I'll try and upload them, not that they are that great. It does take some time, as after about 2GB, Virgin throttle the upload speed. I will .zip every file individually to try and cut the size a bit. Thanks for the other file. It took a bit of fiddling to get SDR Sharp to play it properly, but adju...

Re: Hampshire pirate radio thread

A couple of weeks back I made the trip to Southampton Common, but didn't get a chance to write about it yet. It was baking hot that day. I set the SDR up with the aerial on the tree next to the old well, so I could sit on the log bench. I totally forgot to set the gain on the SDR, as I was a bit ner...

Re: Hampshire pirate radio thread

At one stage I thought they were succeeding since there would be upto 3 on air, a record from my memory since pirates in this part of the woods either don't last long compared to the London ones, or there is only one at a time. That's pretty good in this day and age. In Bristol, I can't remember wh...
