Re: The Beauty of Macros in Word Processing

Thanks BP. I use notepad constantly, though not for anything clever. I will install Notepad++ next time I can close all tabs and windows on my PC ;) I suppose you can have 20 tabs open in Notepad++ ? or do you have to run separate instances? Looks like I'll have to edit all my personal web pages to ...

Re: The Beauty of Macros in Word Processing

I have bought Textpad twice but now I use the free version. Macros are tricky to set up but there is help on the user forum.

Does anyone know what platforms will be used for the new Classical Music service when it starts in March?

Language? Very strong jammer-type noise on 7350 has just cleared leaving China clear on 7360 in French

Re: Tropo Building?

Thanks for those streams. I notice that they are a few seconds ahead of Le direct

Listening now to Le direct there was an announcement "vous écoutez Classique Plus". Very confusing, and the two channels have different programmes.

Re: Short Waves not working

Yes, they don't last long, sometimes only minutes. There should be a corresponding enhancement on LW and VLF, so there must be a VLF grabber somewhere showing this

Re: Tropo Building?

Thanks, I'll update my old bookmark

*edit* I see now that the url remains the same whichever 'musique' you're listening to, it's just a matter of looking for "Le direct"

Re: Tropo Building?

10D NE Wales mpx is weak here also, I have to go up 2 floors to listen on a portable or pocket rx, so today I put up a Triax 5-ele (thanks Tim :) about 10m up, and now have full-bars and can listen to Radio Wales, which is becoming my px of choice, especially for the evening show with Janice Long. Well done! WRTH lists that freq. for the 1800-2300z Holy Quran service to Europe, so the great circle path must take it North of you.

Re: KBS World Radio 6095

49 Metres was long my favourite SW band. Always good in the middle of the night, but also interesting in the afternoon in wintertime. HCJB was there pretty much 24 hours, and the Far East later on, but coming the opposite path to what you're hearing in the Midwest. AIUI the Voice of the Andes is sti...

Re: Akai A61016

Looks good - what's the battery life like, Peter? The big benefit of DAB+ is it shows the radio has a newer chipset with considerably reduced power consumption. IMO there's no other reason to buy a DAB+ radio until there's any stations worth listening to :(

Re: 1476 kHz LP AM

Tx has ceased this afternoon but will return with music px in a couple of weeks, probably with slow carrier frequency modulation to assist weak-signal identification.

Re: 1476 kHz LP AM

@KT, that is excellent reception for a city location! Is that really an 8Hz beat, or is it an artefact of the recording?

Re: Bonjour everyone!

Welcome Brieuc, I hope you will soon get some good winter tropospheric signals. Whichever receiver you use, try to put up an outdoor antenna. A simple dipole mounted horizontally on a short pole will bring in so much more that a telescopic whip inside the house.
