Re: Poland on Tropo 17 October 2017

A post I made earlier didn't 'take'. At 2346 UTC I finally got Poland PR2 on 93.8 when a German station faded - located at Koszalin. It was weak but good enough to allow the wife to confirm it matched the web stream. Both 97.3 and 107.9 are blocked frequencies. I tried listening on 107.5 which is cl...

Re: Poland on Tropo 17 October 2017

Much to my surprise I've got some nice late evening tropo - the solar light interference is less - a couple of dull days have helped. I got Garz at 2205 UTC 906 km away on 91.5 km as well as a number of stations over 650 km away.

Poland on Tropo 17 October 2017

Not received by me unfortunately - but a 'new' DXer in Rainham Kent - about 5 miles from me has logged some very nice reception in the mid evening on FMList. [He/she has been posting logs since the beginning of the SpE season] 1628 88.90 POL Radio Plus, Szczecin/Komin WISKORD (ZP) peaking at 1 bar 9...

German tropo 16 Oct 2017

Tropo to Germany has been very lively from my location for the last few hours - with ducting tending to follow the weather front and matching F5LEN's forecast. The best distance was early on at 906 km from Garz on 102.5 (NDR1 MV) with strong signals closer in peaking around 1200-1300 UTC although ev...

Re: German tropo 15/10/17

Denmark on 97.2 at 1630 UTC at this end of the country- weak but matched the web stream - one minute later lost under the infernal solar lighting qrn. Hopefully signals will pick up as the evening progresses.

Tropo is now building up

It looks like the forecasts are going to be right - Germany now coming in quite nicely - if the forecasts are correct it should build during the night.

1 or 2 Tb USB 3.0 stick for £12 - its a scam

A friend of mine got a 2 TB memory stick very cheaply - and I've seen a number on Ebay for around £20.00. Sounds too good to be true... It is as when I goggled to find a seller I found a number of articles ringing alarm bells about a scam and on amazon scathing reviews. Basically the 'manufacturer' ...

Auto screen capture to monitor DX conditions

I use DXmaps MUF ES to monitor conditions - but it doesn't help when I'm not at the computer and you can't go back and see what was happening earlier but I've just found a very easy to use screen capture program that I'm trying out. You can find it here - https://sourceforge.net/projects/autoscreen/...

Re: Spain at bottom of band

A nice little opening - makes up for missing yesterday's which was around the same time. Among others I found MRC SNRT National on 95.2 - with full RDS - which is not listed. I wonder if the E layer has received a bit of a boost from the Draconids meteor shower which is due to peak on 7/8 October. T...

Spain at bottom of band

Whether it will come to anything - but I've got weak Spanish at 90.6 and a blank carrier at 87.7Hz as I send this - and I'm of course recording..

Re: 01 Sept 2017 - double hop reception

Just back from a nice week away in Suffolk - so it is only now that I can re-check the frequencies with an echo. During the opening I've logged (so far) a dozen frequencies with Radio Rossii. Three of them had an echo - 66.38, 69.68, 71.24 - all three from GTRK Tver region. 69.68 was by far the stro...

Re: 01 Sept 2017 - double hop reception

Thanks for reply Marcus. I had same comment elsewhere. Checked backed earlier recording at 1129-1134 utc and same echo at constant level. Have deleted these from the log. When I have the chance I will check other frequencies to if the same thing was happening.

01 Sept 2017 - double hop reception

Once again as the opening faded out some double hop reception was logged. At 1200 UTC a few transmitters from R. Rossii were still present on 66-74 MHz, three of which had an echo on the signal - not only evident from the doubling of the pips on the hour, but also on the programme itself. This is th...

Re: ALL TIME TOP / BEST FM RADIO or TUNER ?

but bear in mind that you may need a fairly meaty computer to run it.
It will also need a fairly big wallet! I might be tempted - but as a 2Gb 20 MHz file will probably only be 30-35 seconds long it is potentially a huge number of files to process.

Re: Es 01092017

Loads of activity in Europe - but not a lot here. 65-75 MHz (OIRT) band is yielding some results but rather patchy as I appear to be at the edge of the active area.

Re: Es 31/08/17

Someone of course meant "31/08/17". Band 2 is hopeless after dusk here - pesky solar light interference! The OIRT band is also affected but with stations at 30 kHz there are many gaps and I had a good showing from Belarus when I got back in at 2040 UTC - as well as Russia on Ch R1 with three carrier...

Re: 2017 Es Season Off To A Hopeless Start

It is certainly going out with a bang at the end of August with, for me, excellent Es reception on the 25th and 30th and some ES on the 27th and 28th.

Re: Es 30/08/17

Despite being live and logging Band I TV I totally missed this Es opening - but fortunately I've got a load of loggings from the RTL dongle/FMsuite combo. It lasted from 1144 to 1341 UTC. A quick eyeball of stations received shows mainly Lithuania, Latvia and Poland and once I've combined the RDSspy...
