KOR 1566 MWList has changed.

I just went to list HLAZ reception for 21/10/2019 - and it wasn't listed! It took me a few moments of cross-checking to see that instead of it being listed as HLAZ FEBC (as per my log on 19/10/2019) it is just listed as FEBC.

Does anyone know why? As 20:00 it clearly identified as "H L A Z"

Re: 1430 KEZW?

Website "Not available in the E.U." so can't check playlist, etc.
I got that on WINS's web-site - I wonder if it's because they would not be complaint with EU data protection rules. In WINS's case I found a 3rd party web-site offering their schedule.

Re: Fast fibre - possible interference

To deal with electrical interference I've got ferrite chokes clipped on everywhere- coax leads, usb leads, power leads. RE: TalkTalk - some of the problem with the operators is that often English doesn't seem to be their mother tongue and they don't get the nuances of colloqiual UK English. So you h...

Canadian signals from 2115 UTC

Canada on 930 (St John's) and 1140 CBC1 Sydney) received quite early - just strong enough on peaks to match to webstreams. Hopefully strengths will improve through the night and the band will open up.

Re: Asia right now

Early in the evening far east stations were coming at 17:58-18:02 with the obvious signature tunes/identifiers from CRI 1521, 1566 and 1557. Re-checking the recordings around 20:00 UTC the signals were a lot better, but not as good as the day before (17/09/19). I stopped recording just after midnigh...

Re: looks like bumper asian evening

Well Radio Free Asia on 1557 was coming in strongly and blotted out anything else and although HLAZ on 1566 suffers interference I heard "H-L-A-Z" very clearly - probably the best so far. Also I got time signals on 972 and 1143, but not 1134. I missed the time signal on 711 - but got "chinese" yl on...

16 Oct 2019 711 KHz "help the newbie" again

A nice Asian signal on 711 at 1959 - 2003 UTC. I'm pretty sure it's the Taiwan station, but would like confirmation (or not). https://app.box.com/s/dalkvygw7ktfmyst5a7n0khq4ixo2w5y Starts off with a European time signal spot on the hour - my PC and Radio clock being in sync. Then the "taiwanese" sig...

Re: Fast fibre - possible interference

I really think "it is the luck of the draw" with most firms nowadays. If you don't have cause to complain, the company will seem ok. If you do have to complain it can be a nightmare and most seem to adopt the 'automatic rejection first time round'. I will make sure to document any issues - probably ...

Energy Tariffs - saving money - a tip

Whilst I think about it - here's a tip to potentially reduce energy costs while on a fixed rate tariff - without incurring penalty charges. Check if your supplier has a better tariff than when you signed up. Then they may well allow you to change to it without penalty. I'm currently with Avro Energy...

Re: Fast fibre - possible interference

Thanks for the comment John. I was agonising over whether to upgrade as the incomplete information I had suggested the cabinet was 2 km away, as the web-site page I was on was showing distance from exchange (which would have meant <10 Mb/s). I finally found out how to track down the actual FTTC cabi...

Fast fibre - possible interference

Fast fibre (FTTC) has become available at £25/month. I do not need it - but it would be jolly useful to get a better upload speed. My concern is whether it will cause interference to my radio reception. I already see VDSL interfrence on shortwave - with the break points at 8 and 12 MHz clearly evide...

Re: California Officials declare Ham Radio no longer a benefit

I remember in an RSGB publication about how the UK "Radio Amateur Emergency Network go started. Before 1953 the authorities dismissed the offer of 'hams' to provide an emergency service. "We've got it covered - we don't need 'amateurs' was the attitude. Then on 31 January 1953 major flooding affecte...

Thank you for the translation AMDXHUN. A little later they played another piece of music which was very obviously from the Balkans area.

12Oct2019_1350kHz unidentified

Received from around 05:56 to 06:04 UTC. The recording covers the period 05:59:30 to 06:03. The first 30 seconds are a bit rubbish, but then there is a weird two tone time signal followed by a fairly clear male giving a station announcement in a language I don't recognise. This is followed by a fema...

Re: 1557KHz Radio Free Asia 1958 UTC 14th October 2019

Additional info: The ADC in the RSP1A - at sample rates of 6 MHz and less - runs at 14-bits resolution giving an extra 12 dB of dynamic range - which must help. According to SDRPlay technical notes - they found this was a hidden feature in the micro-chip - so they incorporated in the RSP1A software.

Re: 1557KHz Radio Free Asia 1958 UTC 14th October 2019

Hi Peter,
The reception was with the SDRPLay RSP1A in low IF mode using my 1.2 m shielded magnetic loop. The audio recording was taken from an I/Q file of the whole MW band. It was the clearest Asian signal at the time, better than CRI on 1521.

1557KHz Radio Free Asia 1958 UTC 14th October 2019

Definitely a good evening for Asian DX. Here's a very clear recording - it was coming in much better than HLAZ on 1566.

Asia seems good tonight. I've also enjoyed standing out in the garden at night picking up CRI on 1521 on a Tecun PL680.
