Re: ES 03/05/2019. Is the beginning of the Sporadic-e?

For me it is following a 'familiar' pattern. An opening in late April to get one all excited, then a gap for a couple of weeks. Then a couple of teaser openings in mid-May and hopefully something will appear today or tomorrow (22nd). And the same pattern of extensive Es from the border of Kazakstan!...

Re: Building the Korner 15.12

I meant the dimensions for the elements, reflectors and the main boom.
All the information is there - not just pretty pictures. But I see you have been sent other program to help you.

Re: Es building 11th May

It must have taken a special effort to enter these stations into FMList as Es.

Re: Building the Korner 15.12

Have a look at this information on K6STI's web-site. This should provide most of the information you need. http://ham-radio.com/k6sti/korn1512.htm Add: A comment on the first picture showing a 15.12 on top of a light duty rotator (looks like an AR130X). The pole to which the antenna is attached is f...

Re: SDR Console and auto-logging RDS on File Playback

Jim, I must give that a proper try out later to day. I presume each RX frequency logs separately to the RDS log file. At the moment I've found a good use for the scan option in CSVUserListBrowser - tackling 'soupy' recordings. Just set it up with a short dwell time and let it work it's way through t...

Re: Comparison of SDRConsole RDS decoder and RDSSpy

The full release may be a bit more sensitive - or it may just be that the signals are on the edge of detection - as I picked up the PI codes on 87.5, 91.0 and 91.2 that were not picked up on my previous test. For completeness I mention that I used a bandwidth of 14 kHz for all tests and no fancy use...

Re: Comparison of SDRConsole RDS decoder and RDSSpy

Hi Guido, To answer your questions, it was build 2019-04-28-1456 and I always have DX mode activated in SDRConsole. I think this build was a bit more sensitive than an earlier one as it found two more pi codes from Lebanon when I ran my file from Aug 2016. It far more straightforward than what I hav...

Comparison of SDRConsole RDS decoder and RDSSpy

Following from the mammoth sweep/scan of a 4 minute file and the generation o a full RDS file in SDR-console I have now done a manual check of the same file using SDR# feeding RDSSpy.

The image attached is self-explanatory.

SDR Console and auto-logging RDS on File Playback

This might in the end be impractical, but I have got a fully automated logging system running on SDR-console v3 for complete unattended analysis of a recorded file. It works because CSVUserListBrowser will change the VFO frequency whilst a file is being played back. So I've got a standard of 240 sec...

Re: Slovakia Now 25/4/2019

The last DX captured was at 12:11 BST - so the opening lasted well over an hour. FMList visual logbook shows that BBC R2 from Wrotham (11 km from me) was received in Slovakia at 10:43 UTC.

Slovakia Now 25/4/2019

It has started! Got Slovakia PI: 5D60 on 89.2 - quite steady. Add: I have just checked the logfile for the 24/7 scanning set up. The opening actual started before 10:30 BST with stations from Romania and Moldova. I look forward to analysing the recording - I suppose it is too much to hope for double...

Re: Korner 9.2 from Antennenland - in stock

I have just placed an order for one - plus the extra boom support. Delivery 4-8 working days. I am looking forward to the additional 10 dB rejection off the rear, that's London and all it's stations, as well as a bit of extra gain. Add: this is an updated version on a slightly shorter boom - and wit...

Re: SDR Console and RDS logging - coming soon.

Hi John, Although there isn't a scanner option I am using CSVUserListBrowser to step SDR-Console through a table of frequencies (set at 5 seconds) which works very well. You need to connect SDR-console and CSVUserListBrowser together with a pair of virtual com ports. This link contains (what I hope ...

Re: SDR Console and RDS logging - coming soon.

Jim, I'll post here rather than the SDR Console Test Team forum regarding downloading csv files from FMList. I just downloaded csv files via FMScan (that's someting else I've just learned!). Have tried to copy and paste to an existing file csv file I realise why we can't have one big file - the csv ...

Band I TV April 2019

Around a few days ago I was checking out the Band I frequencies after Andy Webster's alert on the 13th - and found a weak carrier on 56.252 MHz - which was only a little bit above the noise floor, it was fading in and which suggested it was a genuine signal. Nothing noted on the video frequency. Now...

Re: SDR Console and RDS logging - coming soon.

Nope - it auto-logs files - and you can use CSVUserList to step through a table of frequencies - so you can emulate the function of the RDSDatalogger plug-in for SDR#. But there is no built in scanner - it isn't high on Simon's list of priorities, but we can always hope it moves up the list :) Incid...

Re: SDR Console and RDS logging - coming soon.

Hi everyone, I got very excited when Jim posted about the RDS logging in SDR Console. I've been testing as well and I have to report that the weak signal performance of the decoding still doesn't match that of the RDSSpy decoder - it's all down to the super-pi detector. But the decoder does work ver...

Re: HS Publications (UK) still alive ?

Patrick, A balun is not needed for impedance matching the aerial to the radio, but if you don't use a balun you will likely find a much poorer front to rear ratio than is achievable. Read K6STI's page on 88-108 MHz baluns http://ham-radio.com/k6sti/balun.htm where the first paragraph summarises the ...
